Arrived late on Feb 14th to discover a booking mix up. After much mucking about, my wife and I were assigned a family room (which is fine) but the receptionist, frustrated by the system and telling us he had done a double shift, concluded that he might later need to ‘turf us out’ if a family turned up needing it. You are joking right !!!. The room was tatty. Ripped carpet, damaged toilet door, unpainted bathroom skirting board, no battery cover on the thermostat, that kind of thing. Beds were made but not to a professional standard (they were not tight) and there was a faint bad smell from the bedding, I expect someone had smoked next to it before it was laundered. I could hear snoring from the rooms at either side and was cold, I turned the thermostat to its highest level which had some effect but it was still cold. Next morning in reception, I noticed a hot water bottle on the floor, perhaps I should have requested one. Despite a non-refundable booking, we couldn’t face a second night so cancelled our Sunday plans and did the 4 hour drive home, setting of at about 7.30 pm. The receptionist (this one was nice) cancelled and refunded the next mornings breakfast as that was all she could do. Then to top it off, we saw a rat just outside the front door. Having stayed in many excellent premier inns and trusting the brand, assuming that the group would be interested, we completed their online feedback forms. As only the Saturday night booking was in our name and not the Friday, they simply replied that they would not follow up our ‘complaint’ and expressed no significant interest the feedback. Which surprised me. Computer says no. Do not stay here, it is frankly horrible.
