This hotel still carriers the Marriot franchising name but haven stayed at many Marriot's across the country and as a former employee of Residence Inn in East Lansing, MI - I can tell you this location will not brandish the Marriot name for very long. Unless they make some major updates they will not pass their next inspection. I stayed here 2.5 years ago and it was excellent. But it is apparent there is new management. They claim to have several amenities; a pool that they claim is safe to swim in but is green and stinks (front desk admitted the pool had not been treated with ANY chemicals in 3 days but it appeared to be longer). Hot tub was just a few inches of stagnant water with (4) orange cones with caution tape around it. 24-hour business center is a single PC that is stuck at a DOS prompt trying to start up. Our first room wasn't super bad on first look except the heating/cooling unit would not heat the room any warmer than 60 degrees (it was 30 degrees outside and snowing). So they moved us to a new room. But one other issue i noted before we moved is that one of the bedroom doors looks like it had a hole from someone punching it and the fix was a large gob of dry wall mud just slapped into the hole. Didnt try to sand or smooth anything. Just a handful of drywall mud. So we get moved to a new room. Within this room there was a fire place - but it was broken and missing many parts. BUT the heating unit would get us to above 70. When I reported to front desk they indicated that NONE of the fireplaces in the facility are operational despite advertising these on their website for the West Lansing location. Stains all over the carpeting and walls. Crayon, paint, and nail polish at toddler height on many walls and all of the furniture. Many of the floor tiles in the in-room kitchenette were broken. One bedroom had the front shroud to the vanity missing. Appeared that someone took a knife or a screw driver to both bedroom doors and the ottoman (digs and slashes in each). in room kitchenette had a range and oven - did not work (i pulled it out and made sure it was plugged in - all electric - would not operate. Front desk blamed housekeeping). Glass wear - many cups had chips in them and were unsafe. Microwave had a crack in the shroud. One of the sink bowls in one of the bathrooms was cracked. Gap between the oven and the counter was caked with appeared to be years worth of food debris. EVERY single pan had old food debris stuck to them. Everything is broken and the only response front desk and management had for us is "We definitely are do for a renovation". Which of course is NOT a fix to a lack of routine housekeeping and maintenance. I am guessing there is NO executive housekeeping manager inspecting the rooms after they are being cleaned as NO standards are being maintained. For all of this they wanted $200.00 per night. I have stayed here many times with a school group. It is a clean place to stay, and the beds are comfortable, but it is time for a remodel/redecorate. There were runs in some of the hall carpets. It just seems a little old. The breakfast was good as well.

What a welcome we got - great staff and good amenities - very good upkeep of the property. Comfortable room. We really slept well. Nice hot breakfast with juices and coffee. As a Bonvoy Platinum for life customer, felt welcomed. A great send off by the ladies at the reception. Well done Team Residence Inn. Will be back on our next drive to Chicago from Canada!!

The front desk team was great and very friendly. The maintenance was very fast I asked about my curtains they replaced them the next day miss Brittany was a great help. Mr. Jason makes a wonderful weekend breakfast. Miss Rose always leaves my suite clean and smelling nice.

Very nice place. The front desk attendant was extremely inviting and welcoming. Sometimes over the top service can come off as misogynous, but this was not the case at all. I believe that lady is just that, a very nice lady. They even had a personalized hand written welcome note with a goodie bag and everything.. It was a very nice touch. Thank you

I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. i had a little birthday get together there got the two bedrooms suite with the fireplace me and my friends were racially profiled by autumn and this lady with green hair , they called the cops on us 5 cops pulled up and we had just gotten back to the hotel from spare time and when we got to the room we ate the rotel i made so we weren’t gonna eat and talk and you walk past this other room on the hallway and you hear people yelling and stomping so automatically they think it’s us just bc we’re black ? what do you gain from being racist ? so thank you autumn and the lady with the green hair you ruined my day and i will be calling corporate i want you guys fired for ruining my bday and racially profiling me. and i have videos too i want yall to look at them security cameras and see what they were talking about too bc when one of my friends went down there he overheard them talking very racist . so don’t even try to lie bc i got stuff on camera and yall have it in 4k too

Was pretty disappointed.. The room was very run down. Curtain falling off the wall, stained carpets, stained couch, tack ***** showing in the kitchen, the bathroom vanity missing a whole door, stained/water damaged walls. The room itself wasnt the cleanest. Plus.. absolutely no room service. We were there 3 nights and not once did we get clean towels or garbage taken out. Wouldn't recommend.

I'm giving this a 4 rating not because of the facility but because of the service. Due to the condition of the room, I just cannot give it 5 stars. The room (105) was a 2. Furniture is worn, beat up, walls peeling etc. However, when I checked out and was asked how everything was, I told the Manager, Dawn. She apologized and said this hotel is getting a total refurbishment starting in January 2023. It is under new management. I've stayed here for years when in town and I'm so happy to hear this. Without my asking, Dawn immediately refunded my total payment and said I shouldn't have to pay for that room. (I was given this room because it's a two bedroom, limited supply and I arrived late.) This is stellar service under less than ideal conditions. Hats off to Dawn. We will definitely be back and look forward to the "new" look coming. Thank you.

CLOSED! By far the worst experience I've ever had with a Marriott family hotel. I almost went full nuclear Karen. We booked this hotel 6 months in advance while planning my daughter's graduation open house. Needed the kitchen to cook for the party. The day before our check-in, I get a notice on my Bonvoy app to check-in. We definitely needed the room, so I checked in. On the day of our check-in, we pull into the parking lot. It seemed odd that no vehicles were in the lot, save one construction truck. We walk up to the main door and notice a sign stating all packages need to be sent to the Fairfield Inn next door. On the opposite window is a notice that the building was not safe for humans. NOT SAFE FOR HUMANS. Not a good sign. I call the front desk to see what's going on. Of course there is no answer or any message explaining the situation. We drive over to the Fairfield Inn to see if they know what's going on. The front desk clerk proceeds to tell us that there was a flood back in late January. The hotel has been shut down since then and probably won't open until September. This is July. Remember, I booked this 6 months in advance and even checked in the day before our arrival. I didn't receive any type of notification from Marriott about this closure. Not a phone call, email, letter, carrier pigeon, or app notification. I call the corporate line. The person I spoke to had absolutely no clue this location was closed. "What do you mean it's closed?" All they could do was book another hotel for us in the area and cancel our reservation so we don't get charged the fee for late cancellation. They were kind enough to waive the fee for late cancellation on a hotel that is basically condemned. Thanks . . . . I'm now stressed out of my mind. We're 600 miles from home without a hotel that we should have had because we booked 6 months in advance. I'm dealing with the "manager" (Karen Level 1) with has no power to do anything expect rebook us somewhere else. Pretty sure I can do that on my own. I have app. Who doesn't notify their customers when a location has been shutdown? Marriott apparently. Who doesn't give customer service managers the power to the situation right? Again, apparently Marriott. We asked if they could book us in the hotel next door, the Fairfield Inn. According to the corporate "manager", that hotel is completely booked. My wife, see that I'm at a Karen Level 3, heading into nuclear territory, decides to check with the front desk. Turns out they do have rooms! Corporate Marriott is absolutely worthless. They have no clue what is going on with their hotels. They couldn't offer any kind of discount for our inconvenience. They did offer me a whopping 10k in Bonvoy points, which won't even get you one room for a single night. I think that's about 2 bottles of water from their store. I've been a Marriott Rewards/Bonvoy member since 2011. I have their credit card to earn more points. I have had
