I have stayed at Boende Visby several times and I have always thought that it was ok for a budget hotel. However, during my last stay I woke up in a bed infested with bed bugs. I immediately called one of the owners and he was understanding and apologetic and tried to find a solution. After several hours, I was told I could move to another apartment and they would make sure to have all of my clothes cleaned, dried, and folded at the end of the day (to minimise a potential spread). When I came back from work in the evening, I was greeted by a paper bag containing all of my scrunched up, wet clothes. With no clean and/or dry clothes for work the next day, I checked-out and demanded my money back. Boende Visby agreed to this but their handling of this was horrendous. *********** had to get involved, Boende Visby refused to answer my messages, and after 3,5 weeks or angry e-mails, phone calls, and text messages, I finally got my money back. I would like to believe I am a reasonable person and I understand bed bugs can happen at the best of places. However, I was told by one of the hotel’s staff that they had had the same issue the previous week in the same apartment. So apparently they knew about the bed bugs, did not sanitise the room, rented it out again, and flat-out lied to my face when they told me this had never happened to them before. As for me, I got between 200 - 300 bites which caused an allergic reaction which needed medical care. I lost valuable work time and sincerely hope you will spend your money elsewhere. Do NOT stay at Boende Visby!
