Hotel Apartamento do Golfe

Just managed to book this for 1 day for my birthday weekendfor myself and my daughter and wished I had booked it for the entire duration of my 6 day stay in Portugal. Clean, peaceful, pool was crystal clear, staff were friendly. d I somehow managed to get it for a very competitive price, not the usual rate. Spacious apartment with very large bathroom and shower, small kitchen and good sofa, along with a TV in the lounge and the bedroom. Nice coffee in the cafe and the staff were all lovely. Great book exchange too!

This was a 5 day Mother and daughter break, for my Mum who needed a holiday after a difficult year. On the website this looked a basic but clean hotel in a tranquil setting - which suited what we wanted from our short stay. The reality however was very different. Hotel: 1 star. We arrived at 1pm and was told to wait til 3.30pm for check in. We spent these hours having a bite to eat in the cafe area. Eventually the hotel worker found us and gave us a key and said go and find your room with a rudimentary point to an area by the pool. On the website the rooms look like sweet little bungalows by the pool. What it doesn’t tell you is that the rooms go under the nice looking ones down several grim flights of stairs and are underground. Ours was the room right at the bottom of the stairs . Anyone would have struggled to take a suitcase down these stairs but it is especially hazardous for people with any disabilities or bad knees or a bad back. My 75 year old Mum who had a bad back could not manage this and we were offered no assistance at all. Once we opened the apartment door we were greeted with a dingy windowless room with a dated circa 1970s kitchenette. Where’s the bedroom we thought.. We went down more steps and found a bathroom that was so old it belonged on the antiques road show! Another lot of steps down to the grimmest looking ‘bedroom’ with two wafer thin twin beds and a cheap pillows that were only half the size of bed width. That’s 3 lots of steps down to each room in the apartment - such a weird set up. As my Mum can't manage steps we requested a room change and was told none was available. So yes we were the ladies who said we are not staying here! Food: basic but okay. No menu choice. Cheap as chips and everything on the menu is something with chips. So if you love basic food you’d be happy. We were planning on eating out all holiday at the Marina so this didn’t overly bother us, but the accommodation did. 1 star at best. We’re now at the Four seasons who on arrival gave us a free upgrade after hearing about our awful experience, and gave us 2 glasses of Rose as a welcome gift. In summary don’t be fooled by the 3 star rating, but you might drop lucky and get a room that’s been semi updated on the ground level over looking the small pool.

We have just returned from another lovely week in Vilamoura at the Vilamoura Golf apartments. We had initially booked a 1 bedroom apartment but did ask to be moved back into a studio as the excessive stairs were an issue. The staff and service were amazing as usual and would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful relaxing holiday. Fabio, Dario and Maria were all as helpful as ever so would like to thank them. The food in the pool bar is reasonably priced and is always delicious, especially the golfer burgers !!. We were there during the power cut but we had a chilled out evening (with candles bought from the local Spar) on the terrace.

Staff, facilities and breakfasts were exceptional! We have just spent 4 days in beautiful Vilamoura and will definitely return! Our studios flat was kept in pristine condition by Maria who’s was a breath of fresh air and pure joy when we met her! She was an absolute credit to the hotel. We found all of the staff friendly and helpful. They could not do enough to help and the hotel in general was spotlessly clean! Regular shuttle transfers from the hotel to and from the marina and beach were free of charge and again, drivers helpful and friendly! It is a beautiful town with lots to do and see from sport to water based trips, to walking to vineyard visits amongst many other activities! Round of applause for this hotel - in particular, Maria who made a lasting impression on us both!

We had a fabulous stay in these lovely apartments. They are situated just a short bus ride outside of Vilamoura and it is so peaceful. They offer a great free shuttle to the beach and centre of Vilamoura. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful and the entire place was immaculate. Really can't fault it and as we had such a great time we are going back next month.
