This is a family-owned hotel. As such, a family lives there and works there. If you want to make sure you get your, insert chain hotel name here, rewards points this hotel isn't for you. If you want a fantastic hotel, owned by a real-live innkeeper like things were 125 years ago, this is your place. The rooms are gigantic and well-furnished with antique furniture. Furniture made from real wood. It's not a modern boutique. It's an antique boutique. That doesn't mean it's run down. The bathrooms are in great shape and you don't even have to go outside, like 125 years ago. In all seriousness, the owner maintains the property well and it shows. The beds are comfortable and huge. The carpets are soft on the feet and welcoming and most rooms have a kitchenette. The location is outstanding, just far enough outside the center so you don't need to spend a small fortune to stay there and then fight throngs of tourists to get back to your hotel at the end of a long day. It's right next to an U-Bahn stop and tram stop and you can be at the airport, several train stations and the center quickly and easily. So, the bad and these either are part of the charm or completely out of the owner's control: Okay, the building is probably from the 1800s. For that age, it is in fantastic shape! However, soundproofing wasn't a thing back then. To me, this doesn't matter but it's worth noting. Let me be very clear, noise can get in but the rooms are NOT drafty at all. There is an entire building being built next door at the time of this writing. There is nothing to be done about it and the noise will go away in time but for now, you will probably hear workers working at 8:00 a.m. on a weekday. There is no lift. It would ruin the charm of the building anyway. Take the stairs, it's good for you. That's it really. The owner really does have a personal touch. I try to stay there whenever I stay in Vienna and he doesn't always have a room. However, he keeps meticulous records and was happy to welcome me back after not being able to stay there for seven years. I suppose the biggest pro tip I would give is to book with the owner directly. You can reach him on Facebook Messenger and he is very responsive. Don't pay some giant site extra money just to do what you can do yourself. The hotel takes cards, the building is antique not the owner :) It's a local business. A family business. Support it by going directly through the owner. You'll probably save a few Euros in the process.

Großes, gepflegtes Zimmer mit top sauberem Bad und einer super praktischen kleinen Schrankküche, in der man sich auch mal kurz einen Kaffee oder einen Tee machen kann - auch ein normal großer Kühlschrank, der uns jetzt im Sommer sehr wichtig war. Das Frühstück des Hauses wird aufs Zimmer gebracht - ausgezeichnet! Insgesamt kümmerte sich der Hausherr super um uns, und wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt. Der Standort des Hotels ist direkt an der Gumpendorferstraße, U-Bahn, Straßenbahn und Bus in die City.
