"My biggest disappointment on the Isle of Wight. I searched on the internet for the best carvery for a Sunday lunch and found the Chequers Inn at Rookley. Its claims to be the best and a range of reviews praising the quality and service going back several years plus positive comments on Open Table convinced me that this was the place to go. How wrong I was. The carvery looked promising but did not live up to expectations. The pork was overcooked and tough, the vegetables were totally overcooked and Yorkshire pudding was tough. To add to the general disappointment, it was all cold. I would certainly not recommend this place."

"St Maur, a lovely B&B hotel in a quiet yet excellent location near Ventor Park, and just a few minutes walk down to the beach. The rooms were very clean, homely and cozy. Some come with a terrace and outdoor chairs and table. But what was remarkable were the size of the bathrooms. In all my travels, I don't think I've stayed in any place, where the bathroom was larger than the bedroom - it was unfeasibly large! The breakfast service, although only 45 minutes, was superb. Each dish was cooked to order and you could mix and match your items. A fresh, healthy and colourful fruit mix was available each morning. There was also a lovely looking garden. And a bar room which was very well stocked, not only with drinks, but games and music. David, the host, was most welcoming. In early evening, you can sometimes hear some nice tunes being played on the piano. And remember to ask him to book you discounted ferry travel. A really good find for us, enjoyed by both young and old."

"Che B&B! Nella bella città di Godshill, la proprietà è in un luogo eccellente. Ci siamo trasferiti nelle camere di Saphire, con mobili e decorazioni deliziose e di grandezza generosa. La camera aveva anche spazio all'aperto. Adorava il bagno vittoriano, i nostri ospiti Shona e Amanda erano così benvenuti e amici, e i colazioni erano eccellenti, grandi e di alta qualità, che ci hanno messo in piedi per tutto il giorno. "34 in our family group distributed round the conservatory. The service was good and the staff friendly and patient. The food was a different story, we have visited the Chequers many times and it's our 'go to' restaurant for Sunday lunch and carvery. On this occasion there were quite a few mumblings and mutterings. The carvery was disappointing, complaints about the rock hard potatoes and tough yorkshire puddings mainly, I had the pork belly and cold black pudding, did someone forget to heat it or were they just not bothered? All in all a very average experience. Our large group was pre-booked so they knew we were coming, as the guy who set this venue up the family weren't too slow to let me know that they were not amused! Shame about the quality of the food, time for a change methinks."

Fato sentire così benvenuto e Shona e Amanda si sono resi conto del mio compleanno era memorabile in tanti modi. Favoloso alloggio, tranquillo, bellissimo luogo, accogliente e utile ospiti. "Questa era la nostra seconda stanza a Lisle Combe e ci piaceva molto. Abbiamo avuto tutte le camere come una grande famiglia. Ruth e Robert erano così accoglienti e amichevoli, i migliori ospiti che potessi chiedere. La colazione era deliziosa con molta scelta e fresca cucinata e bella e calda. Ruth era sempre sicura di avere abbastanza tè, caffè e tosta. Ci sono bellissimi terreni e accesso alla spiaggia. La zona di relax è una grande zona comunale che abbiamo usato come famiglia durante la notte di chat e di gioco. L'intero posto era bellissimo e pulito e le camere sono belle e spaziose con i letti più confortevoli. Così tanta storia nella casa e un luogo molto relax. Le mie due ragazze amavano essere li' con tutto il terreno e lo spazio. Tornerò certamente in futuro. Grazie per il grande soggiorno dalla famiglia Vincent "
