The isolated verdant island setting is charming, the lush hotel gardens are beautiful, the rooms (only 5) are quaint and old school, the backdrop of Santa Maria Assunta is stunning. For our group of nine, we took all five rooms for three days and for two of them at night it really did feel like an exclusive private island - overnight its just a staff of two. There was a large external group event one evening, which sounded off putting, but was handled well. The breakfasts are a little too basic, but the restaurant menu and wine list are excellent. The waiting staff are all experienced, engaging and helpful. During the day the tourists arrive en masse and - after an early guided tour of Santa Maria - that is a good time to head out to explore Burano, Murano or Venice itself, returning late afternoon as the crowds vanish as quickly as they arrived. All in all, a pretty unique experience, which I would heartily recommend and hope they do not tamper with.
