The hotel asked us to write them an email if we had negative feedback. And we did. But they never acknowledged it or replied and so sadly I felt called to share it here. Let’s first start with the concept of this hotel. It’s focused on the quality of sleep or at least it’s advertising as such. A project of a very known sleep specialist so one goes with some level of expectations. It’s interesting to arrive to the hotel and even before leaving the car starting to notice a lot of things that make no sense. The hotel is on a valley that is completely desforested. There is nature, sure. But let’s be real… in a really poor state. There is no effort to reforest the areas around to integrate the structures in the landscape and so it’s all exposed to the sun and non private. At check in- sleep quality or the concept of the hotel is never mentioned - interesting. There are children all around which is very surprising for a hotel promoting sleep quality and rest. The pool area does not have enough space for all guests nor does the interior pool that has about 8 sunbeds (for 32 rooms). By the swimming pool there were about 4 pots with plants : all dead. Interesting cause there was 0 effort of having gardens or greenery around the space and the ones that exist are left to die. And you can tell me it’s thhow Alentejo and there is no water - but you can create water and you create water by planting trees. The rooms are stuffy and you are forced to use the AC as the windows are actually doors to the patio with no mosquito screen or whatsoever. Our patio was a little corner with plastic chairs and a claustrophobic feel to it. We get to another detail now: as we are again at a hotel whose concept is around sleep quality - we expect the food to be in some way promoting that too - simple food / easy to digest / light / some Ayurvedic macrobiotic healthy but nutritious menu… don’t get me wrong the food was good. But heavy options. So I am left with the question: why is this a Sleep hotel? Where did Teresa Paiva innovate here? It sounds like a little bit of a trap on that sense. You could just call it a normal hotel. I’m really sad to be writing this review but I’ve worked in hospitality for 15 years and when you charge a certain amount of money for a place and market it to a certain field of wellness, you can’t fail at so many things and be just a common hotel.

Too expensive for what it offers. Overbearing and foolish management that won't admit its mistakes. Decisions that favor business events instead of the relaxation they claim to offer leisure guests. Access is 1.5km on dirt, full of terraces from tractors, which makes it impossible for a car to go more than 10kms/h without breaking the shock absorbers. At check-in there was a group of around 50 people at the entrance to the hotel. We headed for the pool and were surprised by the same group on the pool terrace. It was a company team building event with food, drink and a lot of noise. It was impossible to rest. Small, plastic outdoor pool overlooking the air-conditioned rooms. The company's employees took over the hotel and filmed us with a drone while we were in the pool, without any authorization or warning. This is a clear disregard on the part of the hotel for the privacy of its guests. We went to the room and found the sheets and pillows dirty. The group continued to make noise all afternoon all over the property, on a peddy paper, running and shouting, and even peering into the bedroom windows in search of something. Later, we had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the group continued to sing Alentejo songs and drink at the bar throughout the meal. In addition, the dishes we ordered (cod and sea bream) were salty. After dinner we went to reception and told them that we didn't want to stay at the hotel next night, arguing what I'd explained and asking for a refund for the next night we wouldn't be staying. We were told that the next day they would talk to the superior to see what the situation was. On the way back to the room we found a plague of insects near the entrance and on the outside walls of our room and the adjoining rooms. The next day we showered and smelled of chlorine, the level used in the water. At breakfast the group was still in the hotel. We went to reception and the receptionists told us that we wouldn't be refunded the €190 for the night we hadn't stayed. We left and they kept the money. Relaxation and tranquility?!?

ROOMS: very spacious with big bathroom. Big and comfortable bed, pillows for your own choice (4 different types are provided). Safe, fridge, wardrobe. There is a nice terrace as well. LOCATION: excellent countryside, here you can see many stars! 2hours drive to Lisbon. FOOD: there is a restaurant which offers good breakfast (included) and it works for a lunch and dinner as well. Breakfast is tasty: you can choose something from buffet or you can order eggs (fried or scrambled) with some ingredients like veggies or a bacon. FACILITIES: big parking zone, outdoor pool, spa with an indoor pool, gym, bikes. Good wi-fi.There are even some yoga classes, pilates and meditation time. STAFF: very friendly and welcoming.
