The Lake Isle Restaurant with Rooms

Wonderful stay in centre of Uppingham. We stayed in one of the cosy cottages which was great for my elderly Mum and sister. Staff and owners couldn't do enough for us and food amazing. Handy being able to park right outside. Would definitely stay again. Thank you

The hotel itself was lovely—the room, evening meal, and breakfast were all excellent. However, the customer service received by the owner left a lot to be desired. When we checked in, I wasn’t sure we had the room we booked, so I called down to check. The response was dismissive, defensive, and after some back-and-forth, I was offered a different room but declined based on the attitude I’d already received. Throughout our stay, small things added up—other guests receiving extras we didn’t, being seated after later arrivals, and not being shown to our breakfast table. The atmosphere felt a bit off, and simple requests were met with unnecessary awkwardness. When we settled the bill, we weren’t even asked about our stay—just awkward silence, which summed up the service overall. A real shame, as everything else was great.

My wife and I booked a meal at the Lake Isle to catch up with some friends and decided to book a room to take advantage of their wine list. The room as spotless and beautifully appointed, the small hotel is a quirky old building and was thoughtfully decorated and attention to detail was every where. The meal was fantastic, my wife had the panko scallops.... they were that good I didn't even get to sample one! I had the venison and the others in the party had the trio of beef. All of it was superb and with generous portions. Deserts were also beautifully presented and tasted as good as they looked. There were some great wines on offer and we took full advantage of not having to drive home. Breakfast, full english for 3 and a veggie for one, perfectly cooked and great produce. Staff were attentive throughout dinner and breakfast. Overall a great stay would happily recommend and look forward to staying here again.

Excellent festive lunch. Always such a treat to dine at The Lake Isle. Food, service, atmosphere all top notch! Fabulous wine and drinks. The food was served with a to good to eat plate full of yummy deliciousness. Excellent service by very courteous staff. There was not a morsel left on our plates - even the kids tucked in and enjoyed everything especially the parsnips. Definitely recommend the gingerbread attic roll - utterly delightful! Great wine selection too!

First visit and did not disappoint. Fabulous from start to finish. Room was spotless with comfy beds and a spa bath. Food outstanding, both supper and breakfast. Service exceptional. Fortunate to live close enough to be able to return in the near future

3 night stay early September. Perfect for attending Burghley Horse Trials. The Lake Isle offers stylish rooms along with a wonderful restaurant. Our super king room was very pleasant. Attractive decor, very comfortable bed, powerful shower and jacuzzi bath. We are in the restaurant on the first evening and were very impressed with the food. The food was fresh, well seasoned and attractively presented. The staff were very friendly and quietly efficient. Breakfast was the best we have ever enjoyed in a hotel. Overall a very enjoyable stay and we will book for next year.
