We went as a couple to the island at the beginning of December, the journey is fairly straight forward from male and takes about an hour once you’re on the plan via one other island en route. Ifuru island isn’t 5 star. The food in the buffet restaurant isn’t hot, it is warm at best. There is limited choice and the “kids corner” food consists of plain pasta, chips and chicken nuggets. Nothing else for children. The rooms are clean and tidy but if you have a room near the restaurant you won’t sleep until home midnight as it’s so loud. Unless you are in the all inclusive plus you won’t get the mini bar stocked in your room. Some of the beach rooms walk out on to shrubbery and “gardens” and not pristine white sand like you imagine. The gym is very dated and not 5 star, the spa was overpriced at $150 for a facial and the trips are equally as expensive from the dive centre. $100 a person for a 2 hour trip or 15 minutes on a jet ski. It just felt like a rip off. Drinks are good from the bar near the pool but they vary throughout the resort, there is one female bar staff that gets it right but the others seem to make it up as they go along. I asked for a smoothie and it was curdled with sour yogurt in it. There isn’t much by way of snorkelling, we saw a few little black tip shark but the house reef is so far out you don’t really see much and they charge you $50 to take you to the reef. We had a few issues with the hotel as we were in the wrong room & we also thought we were all inclusive but it turned out some things weren’t included and we’d have to pay for things like Prosecco, some cocktails, pizza by the pool etc. The manager Marcel was pretty useless as resolving any of this, he didn’t apologise or even talk to us, he left it to our “buddy” who actually was good but it would have been nice to be acknowledged by the manager. He did sheepishly came over when we were checking out but he just blamed our travel agent for our problems and didn’t take any accountability. The representative from the agency, Sonia I think, was rude. Food at the waterfront is ok but it’s not great. Probably just about a Wetherspoons standard. Prices in the menu are ridiculous, $40 for a chicken salad starter. If I’d of been paying and ordered that I’d of sent it back at walked out, I got a plate of leaves and 2 bits of dry chicken. Food at the grill is much the same, ordered a steak which was tough and chewy and not great quality. Bad points - we were put in the wrong room type and the hotel could not change it. - the gym is very dated and doesn’t have the 5 star feel like some other resorts over looking the sea etc - food in the restaurant is not hot. It is luke warm at best & not much choice. - ice cream isn’t great, no cones, & just cups. It’s self serve and only 3 flavours a day which don’t change much. One scoop for all flavours which is in some dirty water, doesn’t feel clean. - resort shop very overpriced - $54 for cigarettes $49 for suncream - trip
