We stayed here as a family of 5 in the 5 person room. This was by far the most memorable hotel of the eight we stayed in across Scandinavia. It's not just a place to sleep for the night but an attraction on its own. The hotel's location between fjords, mountains, orchards and waterfalls is one of the nicest I've stayed in. However, the nearest town of note would be Odda, which is about 30 minutes away by very narrow and twisting road, thus your dining options are limited when staying here. The breakfast buffet was very good, as was the dinner buffet. Dinner buffet is way overpriced though. The hotel has a special pool for kids, a playroom, and many activities they can participate in. However, the dining is not kid friendly and the menu needs to be expanded to better accommodate a child's appetite. We really enjoyed the multiple pools (indoor and outdoor) and the 200+ foot long section of pool leading to the outdoor infinity pool overlooking the Hardangerfjord. We also had a great time borrowing one of the paddle boats the hotel has for loan. The room was showing its age and is in need of an upgrade. However the beds were comfortable, the blackout curtains did the job, and we all had a good sleep. The common areas of the hotel, though from a bygone era, are well preserved to showcase the interesting history of this historic and incredible hotel. We would absolutely stay here again, however we would go elsewhere for dinner. It was not worth 2,616 NOK for the 5 of us considering the only thing my kids ate were french fries!
