King Hotel Tenterden

We had an excellent stay at the King Hotel at the weekend. The rooms were lovely and clean, the beds comfortable, and our breakfast Sunday morning was very good. We had our evening meal at the attached Raja of Kent Indian restaurant, and it was excellent. The menu provided a number of different meals to those we are used to here in the West Midlands, and while two of our party had tried and tested meals, myself and my Niece chose dishes we had not seen before, and both left us wishing they could be obtained locally. We all agreed the meals were delicious and it is great credit to the restaurant chefs for producing such lovely food. No matter how good hotel facilities are it is the staff who make the difference, and we all said the staff at the King were the best. Friendly, helpful and ever ready to offer help or answer our questions, even giving my niece a tour of their vegetable garden, they were a credit to the hotel. Unfortunately we do not visit Kent as much as we used to, but when we do we will certainly be giving King Hotel a call. I recommend the King Hotel

A pleasant stop over We wanted a clean and comfortable room to stay at whilst visiting the area. This hotel provided us with everything we need - comfy bed, hot shower, quiet area and a really popular restaurant attached.

My wife and I stayed at The Kings Hotel near Tenterden in Kent for a 3 night break and enjoyed our stay for a variety of reasons. Firstly, the staff were lovely, helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Secondly, the hotel is also home to one of the best Indian restaurants in Kent/the South East, which has an excellent menu with some unusual and delicious options such as Scallops, Venison and Duck all beautifully cooked with tasty spices, sauces and so on. The room was decent enough (especially given the price) with tea/coffee making facilities, TV, air-conditioning, free WiFi, and on-site parking. The hotel/restaurant itself is situated a few minutes drive away from the lovely town of Tenterden which is also home to the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway (a must for any visitor (I also recommend the tap room right next to the station which has a superb selection of beers and regular live entertainment). I can't really fault the hotel to be honest (probably the only thing to mention is that the door to the shower in our room didn't open very wide and I personally found it a bit of a squeeze to get through it!) but, if you want someone close to Tenterden and the surrounding area (there were several places to eat within a few minutes drive (we ate in The White Lion in Tenterden and The Chequers on the Green (just a 3 minute drive from the hotel) both of which were good choices) but not in the town itself (there were several places to stay in Tenterden itself but they were more expensive and parking could also be an issue at times) The Kings Hotel is good (were already planning our next visit/stay as we discovered that the restaurant host regular live events and we quite fancy the Freddie Mercury tribute night!).
