Hotel Chiemgauhof

The Hotel has been newly built and opened its doors only recently in early 2025. It is conveniently located only a few minutes away from the motorway A8 and directly adjacent to lake Chiemsee. There is a small jetty in front of the property with direct access to a private shore and the waters of the lake. It is a rather small and cosy property built with lots of wood and steel, where every room has a view onto the lake and the mountains beyond. The German owners are the masterminds behind the rather inexpensive Motel One hotel chain. This is their second foray into the upmarket realm, the first being Das Achental, a golf resort not far from the Chiemgauhof. One has to bear in mind that the Chiemgauhof is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World, which naturally creates a certain level of expectations. The setting is certainly picturesque and the property visually appealing. Designed by Matteo Thun, it combines modernity with rustic elements, featuring high quality materials. Only occasionally appears the straightforward design a bit too simplistic and basic, reminiscent of an IKEA showroom. The location and the property itself is not without problems though. Surrounded by public beaches and various tawdry tourist attractions, it might become quite noisy in summertime. The close motorway is extremely busy and can be clearly seen and heard across the bay. The restaurant, the bar, and, most irritating, the outdoor pool are open to day guests and the general public. There is a constant flow of external guest coming and going throughout the day, which robs the property of any serenity and privacy. The layout of the hotel also seems rather peculiar. The Spa is located far away from the outdoor pool at the opposite side of the property. One has to cross the entire length of the building through the lobby and the bar area in order to walk from the spa to the pool and vice versa. What’s worse, there is no secluded access from the rooms to either the spa or the pool and one has to cross the lobby in order to reach either. For a newly built property, this is inexcusable. It should also be noted that there is no indoor pool available. The outdoor pool is nicely heated even in wintertime, but it is strictly outdoors with no connection to the indoor relaxation area. Another strange architectural decision that is, especially on a freezing and rainy winter day. The rooms are all labelled Suites, but they are just generously sized double rooms really. That means one single room, with a secluded dressing room and a decently sized bathroom. The wooden tub is a nice touch, as is the nicely furnished balcony. The room itself is bright and airy in neutral colours, with wood panelling and the distinctive scent of freshly cut wood. Not overly luxurious in design, but clean, natural and soothing. We were curious to visit the Chiemgauhof as the newest of Motel One Founder Dieter Müller's three quasi-private luxury resorts. The others are the fantastic Kitzhof in Kitzbühel, and the Achental in nearby Grassau. Chiemgauhof performs at the highest level, both in regards to design, and cuisine. Finally there is some real luxury on the shores of Lake Chiemsee. The atmosphere is best described as similar to an Aman Resort. Pure serenity. We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed perfect views over the blue lake and the nearby snow-covered mountains at the same time. Highly recommended.

Wir waren für eine Nacht im Chiemgau Hof und haben uns generell sehr wohl gefühlt. Das Gesamte Ambiente des Chiemgau Hofs hat uns sehr begeistert! Dennoch gibt es ein paar kleine Kritikpunkte die verbesserungsbedürftig erscheinen. Die Ankunft im Hotel war sehr professionell und warmherzig, eine kleine Führung durch das Hotel und schon konnten wir unser wirklich sehr schönes Zimmer beziehen. Die Zimmer sind wunderschön eingerichtet und haben alle einen tollen Blick auf den Chiemsee. Man muss dazu sagen, dass wir bereits in sehr vielen hochpreisigen Hotels zu Gast waren, insofern waren unsere Erwartungen an den Chiemgau Hof entsprechend hoch. Das Personal sehr bemüht und überaus freundlich, nur das Essen dauerte extrem lange, vermutlich wegen der vielen externen Gästen die tagsüber mit Booten zum Mittagessen und zum Baden kommen. Dies ist auch schon der Kritikpunkt an diesem Hotel. Wir hatten den Eindruck, dass ebenfalls wegen der externen Tagesgäste nicht genügend Liegen für die Hotelgäste zur Verfügung standen. Auch fehlte uns ein wenig Privatsphäre da an diesem Wochenende einige extrem laute Kinder den Badebereich sowie auch den Poolbereich einnahmen. Für so einen hohen Zimmerpreis müsste unbedingt einen erwachsenen Bereich, sowie einen separaten Kinderbereich geschaffen werden, ansonsten ist Erholung gleich null! Das White Dinner am Abend fanden wir sehr stilvoll und gelungen. Dafür ein sehr großes Lob! Auch, dass wir den ganzen Tag noch in der Hotelanlage sein durften, obwohl wir bereits ausgecheckt hatten, fanden wir prima. Trotz allem also, ein gelungenes Wochenende am Chiemsee!

Wir hatten ein wundervolles Wochenende danke des großartigen Hotels direkt am Ufer des Chiemsees gelegen. Super freundliches Personal in allen Bereichen — vor allem , was man sonst weniger hat - viele junge sehr engagierte Leute , tolle Architektur und ausgezeichnete Küche. Sehr schön ausgestattete Zimmer und herrliche Sonnenuntergänge am See . Wir werden euch weiterempfehlen.

Diese Architektur ist eine komplette Geschmacksverirrung. Ähnelt sehr einem Bauerhof das Äußer, das innere hat a bisserl was von einer Tiroler Stube und skandinavischer Einrichtung. Schrecklich ungemütlich. Das schönste ist die Lage mit den traumhaften Sonnenuntergängen, das kann man aber auch am ganzen Ufer genießen und muss nicht die exorbitanten Zimmerpreise bezahlen, Ich glaube auf Dauer wird das kein Erfolg sein.

Meine Bewertung betrifft ausschließlich den Restaurantbereich. Übernachtung hatten wir bisher noch nicht genossen. Zum ersten Mal waren wir Anfang Juni anlässlich eines Geburtstages im Chiemgauhof zum Abendessen im Freien. Es fing bereits mit einem perfekten Parkservice für unser Fahrzeug an, dann wurden wir am Empfang herzlich willkommen geheißen und anschließend zu der reservierten Tafel am Strand geführt. Der aussergewöhnlich aufmerksame Service kümmerte sich unaufdringlich aber stets präsent um die Geburtstagsgäste. Aperitif und andere Getränke wurden umgehend gereicht. Danach kam dann das Menü, bestehend aus einer sehr feinen Vorspeise (Eine Komposition von Kohlrabi und Saiblingskaviar) dann Sparge entweder mit Saibling oder Wiener Schnitzel und später noch als Dessert eine Erdbeergedicht. Alle Speisen hervorragend zubereitet - Kompliment an die Küchenmannschaft! Da stand für uns fest, wir müssen schnellstmöglich wieder hin. Gestern hatten wir dann im Barbereich einenTisch draußen reserviert, um das Sushi auszuprobieren. Wir gehen relativ häufig in München Sushi essen, hatten aber unserer Meinung nach noch NIE ein derart hervorragendes Sushi vorgesetzt bekommen. Danach noch eine nette kleine Portion Sashimi und wir waren glücklich. Kleiner Vermutstropfen: es gibt noch kein japanisches Bier. Service wie beim ersten Mal unaufdringlich und stets präsent. Das nächste Mal werden wir einen ganzen Tag im Day-SPA buchen und den Pool, Strand und das Restaurant genießen. Und irgendwann werden wir die 30 Kilometer hinfahren und dort übernachten!
