Two barrel chairs are made for relaxing, reading or watching the flat screen television, which has DVD capability. The bedroom accommodates an adjustable mattress King bed. The large sliding mirrored-door closet provides plenty of space for clothing and personal items and holds a suitcase stand and ironing board. The front screened porch has two comfortable metal chairs with a small table that are just right for a relaxing finish to your day in the sun. Out back, just off the bedroom door, is a nice concrete patio with a turquoise metal table and two matching chairs. Inside a Mitsubishi overhead heat pump unit provides plenty of heat during cold months and plenty of cold air conditioning in the summer. To help move air around on those particularly hot days, a floor fan is provided for your convenience. This apartment is just right for a couple. However, it can accommodate one teenager or perhaps two small children or one other average-sized adult on the fold down sofa. With only 450' floor space it can be close quarters for anymore than two, but close friends and family sometimes don't mind sharing space. The upstairs apartment may also be rented to allow for plenty of room for family and friends. We however soon found that to do so would involve essentially tearing the structure down and starting over as these renovations would require that we bring the building up to current code. This home is pre- 1970's and because of the nostalgia and charm of the place, we decided to leave it as is for now. Having said this, there are quirks to the property including slower drains, and some nostalgic flooring dating. to the 1970's. Just 100 yards from the beach, and right in the center of Tybee Island, The Blue Crab House is exactly where you want to be to enjoy all that this bustling beach town has to offer. The kitchen has been recently renovated, with ample parking for four cars, there is a fenced-in backyard, a hot tub, and a heated salt water pool (***please see notes on heating the pool), all private and at your disposal. Once you park, you can walk anywhere--so put away the car keys, everything you need for a great beach vacation is at your fingertips!STR2021-00515This is a Single Family House...don't let the two doors throw you! It is an old-time beach solution to coming home sandy; direct access to one of the bathroom showers from the outside. There is also an outdoor shower in the back. But make no mistake, this is a stand alone, single family house that will be completely private for you should you choose our place. ***If you are joining us during a cooler month, the pool heater brings the temperature up but it does not make the water hot. Please understand that water can be made about 20 degrees over the average ambient temperature, and that it can only get to about 85 degrees at its warmest. This is a lot better than 40 degrees, believe me, but the water is not hot. There is the hot tub for that!On the Subject of Golf Carts: We have no problem with you renting one if you are able, but as the house is on the beach side of Butler/Highway 80, you can't always rent a golf cart from the local renters. This is because there are specific rules about where you can cross on Butler given traffic and season. However, as you as so close to everything, and especial close to the beach, we hope this won't be an issue. The Summer House on the Island of Tybee is located in a quiet friendly neighborhood, within walking distance to almost everything on the island. The house is a circa 1925 home that has been lovingly restored to keep up with the times, but retains 'The Summer House' charm. The caretaker lives on the property in the lower level. There are three porches, a porch swing, an outdoor shower, a small yard and gardens to enjoy. Bicycles and pedestrians walk on the street, the market is a few doors away, the beach which is 1 1/2 blocks away is the most favored on the island. There are cabs to take you most anywhere else on the island. The house is bright and airy. It has 2 bedrooms. No. 1 has a queen bed. No. 2 has two bunk beds all twin sized and sleeps 4. There is one bath that has a tub/shower, there is an outdoor shower under the back stairs. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the conveniences of your own home, there is even a drawer full of spices for your use. Amenities include, TV, internet, an assortment of toys and games for beach and home. The home is centrally cooled with ceiling fans in each room, with the exception of the bunk room which has a portable fan. The is a wagon to take to the beach and a wheeled cart as well. There are toys for the beach, chairs, and an umbrella, for your enjoyment. I live in the house as well, in the first level. We share the driveway, laundry room and back patio.
