HHui Ling ShiLoved this place!! The host was so lovely and held conversation with us even with our broken Japanese haha, gave us maps / guides for the Dewa Sanzan and even asked us about our itinerary for the next day (as we were going to climb the other 2 mountains, he made sure we knew the bus timings).
It was such a nice traditional ryokan, with comfy tatami, public ofuro (hot steaming bath that felt great after climbing Hagurosan), yukata, and even tea powder and biscuits set out in the room :”) Our room had a wash basin and sofa chairs as well, but not sure if that's for all rooms. We paid 660yen each for breakfast taken away (2 big onigiri balls!) but couldn't have dinner added on (so make sure you check beforehand, because most places in the town close by 5pm).
Overall 100% recommend staying here! Loved our stay, thank you :)

UUtente ospiteサービスが充実してて大満足。だけど、上の階の足音、隣の部屋の話し声、くしゃみ、イビキ全部聞こえてしまうのがマイナスポイントでした。
部屋は土禁になってるのでゆっくりできました。タッチキーなので鍵もなく、外出もチェックアウトもカウンター通らずOKなので楽チンでした。
狭いのとうるさいのを我慢出来ればいいホテルです。

Il fratello maggiore della macchina ha anche chiesto il mio nome prima, e poi mi ha portato alla ricetta per fare il check-in.La stanza ha una grande finestra che può sbarcare il mare del Giappone. Il vento sul mare è grande quel giorno, ma la stanza non sarà sempre disturbata da voci. La zuppa di ruggine calda ha due zone, una di pietre, l'altra di legno, e c'è zona all'aperto, perché ho un po'di gomma, quindi ho un senso di spazio molto comodo per evitare la marea di ruggine per la zuppa.Il mattino successivo è il pranzo cinese, una colazione tradizionale giapponese, ma c'è anche caffè da bere. E'una esperienza soddisfacente, spero di avere l'opportunità di visitare di nuovo.

UUtente anonimoMy biggest mistake of this trip to Yamagata is to book this hotel. It's a good hotel but it's in the middle of nowhere. You will want to stay around the city of Yamagata province which is also called Yamagata city just so you can get to famous tourist spots. However this is 4 hours away from all of these. I had to book another hotel so I can stay 1 day in the city when I wanted to visit these places and the traveling time just completely made me exhausted. It took like 1 day to go to a place and 1 day to go back. It was so terrible, I was crying. This place is closed to Shonai airport not Yamagata airport so I also had to book another flight from Shonai. I wasted so much money for transportation. It was such a terrible experience.
However the hotel is incredibly beautiful with smart design in everything. I loved the onsen very much. If it was just a vacation/restcation for relaxing purpose or isolate yourself from the human word, it's the best choice for you. Since its in the middle of the endless rice field, there is nothing to eat except for paying very high price to eat at the hotel's restaurant. And the food was just okay.
The beauty of this hotel was like a trap. Its like I was blind from its beauty and couldn't see all other disavantages.
