Townsend Gateway Inn

Amazing motel in Townsend. The place has the feel of an old school motel, but modern amenities and feel. The rooms are huge with hard floors and clean, nice linens. Lots of great touches like real glasses and mugs for coffee. Nice rocking chairs on porch. Gift bag with great snacks upon check-in. My husband and I do a 2-week motorcycle trip each year, and this is exactly the type of gem we hope to find.

My wife and I stayed at the Inn on our way home to Alabama from West Virginia. I looked up places to stay in Townsend, thru Trip Advisor, and saw that this motel was rated well. I looked online for pricing and then called the Motel to see what rooms and rates were available. We received a better rate from the gentleman we talked to than what we found online, and booked immediately. This was our first stay here, and we'll be back! Rooms were clean, and the small goodie bag received when we arrived, was a nice touch! The young lady we saw when we checked in was very nice and gave us an excellent recommendation for supper! (Trailhead Steak & Trout, btw, AND the restaurant had several gluten-free options!)). This motel is an older, but very nicely refurbished, motel, where you can park right at your room's door! Furnishings were very nice and not your typical motel furniture! Our A/C was a 'split-unit' in the back wall, above the sink/fridge/bathroom area and worked well. The bed was very comfortable, maybe a pillowtop mattress or Tempupedic-type mattress. Although we did not use them, there was a 3-5 ft deep pool, a fire pit area, and an 'ark' playground gym set for the kiddos.

Great deal on a cottage with kitchen!! Cheaper than just a room would be in pigeon forge or gburg. Townsend really is the quiet side of the smokies. You won’t be stuck in traffic, low crowds, or tourist traps. It’s just a cute quiet town with unproblematic folk enjoying the nature. The hospitality is off the charts because the businesses honestly want you to come back, you aren’t just one of a million tourists. Close to good restaurants, winery, and only a few miles from the national park. Also nearby the gorgeous but underrated foothills parkway. We Had our own space and own area to cook. We did a hike before most breakfast restaurants were open and came back after they were closed. Cute property and went above and beyond to accommodate! We had our own outdoor space complete with grill and picnic table I need to check out. PS leave your window open because you can hear the mountain rain and little river from the TGI.

We stayed at the Townsend Gateway Inn for four nights while attending a landscape photo class in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the peak of the Fall leave season. The Inn looks like an old-fashioned roadside motel in sleepy town but it far exceeded our expectations. It was super clean and comfortable with an excellent bed, bedclothes, and a good shower. It was simple, not at all upscale but we would stay there again on a trip the "quiet side of the Smokies." The friendly hosts (and owners) even provided a goodie bag of snacks.

Great place asked for 2 nights. Liked it so much stayed 2 more nights. Staff was professional and did a great job maintaining the rooms. Questions asked were answered with positive comments. Would recommend this establishment with a 10 if I could.

Great Little Motor Inn type Motel. Very Clean & Rooms are as pictured on website. Love that they have a Recycling Bin near the Refreshment area & also in your room. Beekman 1802 are the toiletries, that I Love & use @ home!! Just overall a nice clean friendly place!!! This was our first visit & will be returning ! Didn’t use pool or any of the outside amenities they offer. But it would be a fun place to have fun & fellowship at the Motel!!
