The Tilghman Island Inn

We are avid kayakers and we had originally thought we would spend our two night, two day, first time on Tilghman Island kayaking but it was quite windy (15-22mph) so too risky to try. However, other than the wind the weather was wonderful and the Tilghman Inn was the perfect place to stay! Very tastefully appointed and the view was gorgeous. The staff (hi Gwen) was very hospitable! The restaurant wasn't open on the nights we were there but Gwen was very helpful offering other suggestions nearby. The "serve yourself" breakfast was filling and the homemade muffins delicious. Our hike on nearby Black Walnut Point trail (pictures are from the trail) and finding a geocache (if you love this, you know what I'm talking about) made up for the disappointment of not kayaking. Falling asleep to the sound of the water lapping on the dock was so soothing. Hope to be back!

Friends introduced us and we will late forget the place. Welcomed with positive attitude and perfect drinks. Views of the boats passing through the narrows while sipping on beverage was almost fictional. Dinner was delicious, and service exceptional. Free parking an reservations recommended.

A quiet getaway on the Chesapeake. Staff is friendly. Accommodations were comfy. We had a room on the first floor with a view of the river. Enjoyed the refreshing watermelon water that was available. Adirondack chairs were carefully placed for chilling and reading. A variety of outdoor games were setup.

Lovely and relaxing spot with amazing views of the water, marshes, birds, boats. The rooms are very nice, comfortable, big bathroom. We brought our own bikes - though the Inn also has some available. We were there Tues-Fri so the island is especially quiet. Very limited options for food without driving back to St. Michael's (which we did one night); many visits to the island's Country Store which had a lot to offer for lunch and snacks. The Inn's restaurant was open on Thursday for dinner - we enjoyed a nice meal sitting on the deck watching the beautiful sunset. This might be a 4.5 if possible - but it's a hard business in an out-of--the way location and the people work hard!! Two things as suggestions: given the limited food options, rooms really could use a mini-fridge so people can stock up a bit or even hold some breakfast leftovers for snacks and not waste them. You can access the fridge in the common room but that's not always convenient and doesn't seem like it's meant for a lot of guest storage. I had been told they could put a mini-fridge in the room when I booked, but I didn't want to cause extra work and didn't realize until too late how helpful it would have been for us. Other thing - really need some free-standing umbrellas at the pool so people can have some shade while lounging. Now there are two stationary umbrellas only at tables/chairs. The area is very open and sunny- we aren't sun lovers so had to really limit our pool time and then kept moving the lounge chairs in search of shade. Regardless, we would certainly come back on a visit to Tilghman.
