The Royal Oak Tetbury

Visited The Oak for a rare lunch break with colleagues, but sadly it was more frustrating than enjoyable. The first confusion arose when we were told we could eat food from the Airstream and sit outside - but if we wanted a sandwich, we had to sit inside. Why? There was no clear explanation, and when sunny, seemed a complete shame - we were still spending at the pub? The second issue was even more baffling. I was asked to pay extra on our food order, despite the menu showing a different price. When I queried this, I was told it was a service charge. I’m sorry, what? We had just placed the order, hadn’t received anything yet, and certainly hadn’t been served. How can you justify a service charge before anything has even been delivered? Apparently, this is a new policy from the manager. Frankly, it felt like a money grab, and left a sour taste before the food even arrived (which when it did was merely mediocre). For a place that’s usually reliable, this was disappointing - and judging by how unusually quiet it was for a sunny lunchtime in Tetbury, we’re clearly not the only ones feeling this way. If this is the new standard, it’ll be another 6 months before we consider returning.

A lovely stay at the Royal Oak. A gorgeous and clean room with everything you need. Great service and really recommend the workers pot if staying on a Monday evening. What more could you want from a lovely little pub? Great to drink, eat and sleep at. Would return.

I've only had drinks here,staff are very friendly and polite,excellent beer garden only issue is occasionally unruly dogs. Never eaten here but would recommend it for drinks,cleanliness and staff excellent also very clean and tidy definitely recommend

Pretty pub but disappointed with a few things. Room was dark but ok, shower was lukewarm both evening and morning. Booked a meal and very dossapointed, veg was raw. Puddings cheesecake was a spoonful of cheese with crumbs and some tasteless (frozen?) berries. Eton mess was the same berries (very soggy ie watery)in a tumbler with cream Staff were friendly but waited 40 minutes for food. ( I didn't see anyone else eating!) As previously mentioned although pub is pretty it lacks character inside and was cold

Room comfotable and the breakfast was excellent. It was one of the best english breakfasts I've had.

We loved our room; it was so aesthetically pleasing AND comfortable. The man working in the pub was great, helpful, and served us delicious breakfasts each day we were there. Tetbury was so lovely and we enjoyed walking around town. We also had dinner here twice and really enjoyed that also. It was amazing compared to our hotel we stayed in the previous 3 nights and we were so relieved to have a comfortable place to stay.
