I was lucky enough to spend a month at Nepal Yoga home doing the 500 hour YTTC. It was a truly life enhancing experience in so many ways, it is hard to put into words! Firstly the Acharya family and their team who run it together are incredible, they welcome you in as part of their family and work very hard and long hours to make each persons stay perfect. There are different accommodation options, I chose the deluxe and it was very comfortable and a real joy to do my morning exercises watching the sunrise every morning. Yes, the days start early and are intense, but so worth it and I found 2 hours of yoga before breakfast is a great way to start the day! The food was excellent too, all fresh, simple and though quite repetitive, I never got bored of it in the month I was there. At home I snack in the evenings and so took lots of snacks with me - I was very surprised I ate none, I just did not feel the need, I was satisfied without. The Acharya family and team have truly built something very special in Nepal Yoga Home, it is a heart led and very special healing place for all who are looking to learn and grow, or just relax - others were there for retreat or Ayurvedic experiences. As well as the yoga, we enjoyed breathwork, meditation, sound healing as well as wonderful massages and a consultation with their amazing Ayurvedic Doctor who also taught anatomy and physiology on the yoga course. Which brings me onto the teachers! The teachers are superb, extremely knowledgeable and heart led, compassionate and caring and go way beyond the classroom teaching to make your experience extra special. As someone who had no prior experience of yoga, and with spinal issues, some of the asanas were a challenge, but they accommodated my limitations whilst still encouraging me to push beyond my fear limits, which was a great lesson in itself! Another unexpected and very special gift from my time there was the people on the course with me. Our group was almost all solo travellers, with a wide age range and from many different countries across the world. We all helped each other and I definitely think something brought us together at that time and place for reasons other than the course itself and those relationships continue! I think everyone should take the time and find the funds to gift themselves a month in this special place - you will be glad you did! I look forward to being back there myself in the future! A huge thank you to my brothers Prakash and Tirtha and my sister Shanti for creating Nepal Yoga Home - Namaste, till we meet again x Rooms: Deluxe room was very comfortable and lovely to have the balcony, worth the extra Nearby activities: Very close to Thamel, the centre of Kathmandu. Just a couple of pounds in a taxi, so very handy for exploring the town, local temples and shopping and only 30 minutes from the airport. Safety: As a single woman over 60, I walked around the city at night alone and felt completely safe at all times. Food & drinks: Food
