Consigliatissimo!!!👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

We loved the experience of staying at this hotel! The atmosphere is rustic and beautiful. All areas are very clean and pleasant. Sabrine prepared an exceptional dinner for us, worthy of a 5-star restaurant, and Patrick is a great host. Visit this wonderful place and be enchanted by it!

This small accommodation provider has three  rooms in a former Berber settlement. Tamezret village is a serene place. In many respects, it is not dissimilar to a Greek hill village. The property has been faithfully restored, retaining much original detail. We stayed in the Toumador room, which is a room on two levels, bedroom on the first floor, with the bathroom one floor down. While acknowledging the unique cave setting, it has to be acknowledged that access around the room is generally quite difficult. The bed lies in an alcove with no side access, necessitating climbing into bed from the bottom. The door into the room is half height, and access to the bathroom is down a steep set of stairs, but for one night, it is certainly an experience. The tariff is on a half board basis. This was the most expensive accommodation by some distance during our stay in  Tunisia (including an excellent five-star boutique hotel accommodation, with an excellent dinner and a bottle of wine, in the capital), so we had high hopes for a bespoke uniquely personal experience. This was achieved to some degree but did not quite match our expectations. We had hoped a welcome drink on arrival after a long drive (something we did experience elsewhere), but we were directed to a cafe in the village for refreshments. There is water in the room, but  no options for alternative drinks other than at meal times. The four course evening meal is prepared with precision. Individual courses take the form of a tasting menu. Breakfast while satisfactory, we felt the individual dishes were quite small and needed to be shared between five people. Due to the remote location of the property, they understandably do not accept credit cards, however the need to wire a 50% deposit of 90 euro was a bit of an inconvenience and involved additional costs for us.  The experience was an interesting one, certainly more positive than negative, but it did not hit the heights we expected.

An amazing stay and a truly one-of-a-kind experience! The property is full of character—immaculately maintained with thoughtful design touches, like individual bedside light switches. The warm hospitality and exceptional meals make staying here an easy choice. We especially enjoyed dining with other guests. Despite the language barrier, we connected with the French ladies at our table, with host Patrick kindly translating. It was a delightful surprise to have such an authentic French experience in Tunisia. Writing in the guest book with ink for the first time made it even more special. Staying here is worth it for the dinner alone—the most delicious way to taste camel meat and dates!

Wow! What an incredible experience. The room, dining room and entire property is a fantastic display of what a modern version of typical homes from the area look like. Patrick and Sabrine are incredible hosts - we had a plan for our stay and Patrick ran us through the absolute highlights and route we should take - and he was right. We loved our two night stay and saw a lot on our day trip. Sabrine's cooking is phenomenal and easily the best on our stay in Tunisia. Breakfast is also amazing and has a great variety too. We learned a lot about the country and history while here. We will be recommending this to everyone and will be staying again when we return to Tunisia. Thank you Patrick and Sabrine.

Convenient stop on the way from Tataouine to Tozeur. We did not read the checkin details and arrived 2 hours late for dinner but the hosts still served a delicious feast (lucky I phoned to let them know). Apologies for that inconvenience! Very friendly and interesting chat dining en famille with the host and other guests as there are only three rooms. Great experience to sleep in a luxury cave. Would have liked a bit more choice for breakfast but it was still very tasty.

Patrick and his wife Sabrine are the consummate hosts of this unique guest house. Built into 1500 year-old stone, they’ve fashioned this place into a mini-paradise with great food, warm hospitality, and a willingness to go far above and beyond. If you’re in this area, don’t even think about staying anywhere else. Highest recommendation.

A beautiful troglodyte house with owners who do everything to make your stay perfect. Sabine is an exceptional chef and we had the best food of our holiday in the Auberge. Patrick speaks good English and is interesting about the local culture and wines. We loved our stay. There are only three bedrooms and you eat with the other guests which adds to the experience. Could’nt recommend more.

As previous reviews have said, the Auberge is a destination in itself and not just a great base for exploring the surrounding region. The accommodation is comfortable and beautifully styled, and dinners are a real gastronomic treat, served in a very cozy cave dining room. Patrick and Sabrine made us extremely welcome and Patrick in particular was hugely informative about the local area and indeed all things Tunisian. A very memorable stay and highly recommended, although this perhaps isn’t a place for someone with mobility issues because of the level changes / low ceiling heights, at least in our room.

We rarely leave reviews, and only if the accommodation is exceptional or above exceptional. Patrick and Sabrine have made this Auberge above and beyond exceptional. Not only are the accommodations comfortable and unique, but the dinner that Sabrine made was of exceptional quality, something we will never forget. In addition, the hospitality provided by Patrick is unique and of much higher quality than you will receive anywhere else. He was very interesting, funny, and a wealth of knowledge. Again, I cannot stress how wonderful experience it was, and I wished that we could have stayed longer. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling in southern Tunisia.

We traveled to Tunisia in February. Hey it's cold here. Most people don't come here for the cold. You wind your way up a curving road to the entrance door of this Bed and Breakfast Inn. Think ancient charming quaint courtyard visit. If you are unable to carry your suitcase up a stone staircase with rickety rail then find somewhere else to go. If you can't remember to duck your head so you don't smack your forehead on the low stone wall (that can't be removed) Find somewhere else to go. If you have a bad back or knees or are too feeble to walk down staircase in the middle of the night? Find somewhere else to go. Yes Patrick is a very nice host and has a plethora of information and drinks. His wife Sabrine is an ultra amazing cook. The food was delicious. I believe the term for this establishment is roughing it. Yes it looks lovely, the patio off the room upstairs would be great to sit and enjoy the view. But you need to be agile and careful. The room off the kitchen/dining area needs a romantic who can bend and go with the flow. If you can do that this is the place for you. It certainly was an adventure for us. We enjoyed the company but not so much the accommodations. AND not in February.

Risposta dalla struttura: Dear Jeff, we are very sorry that your travel agent didn't inform you that staying at a centuries old, typical and architectural "houch" might require some ducking. The patio (or rather terrace) is actually the only new addition to the house and is a flat surface (as terraces usually are) of about 30 sqm. No agility required. As for the dining room, it has a ceiling height of 4m, usually sufficient space oven for non-romantics. Doubtful anyway that, when is was excavated a thousand year ago, they had a romantic future in mind. Mea culpa. What we can do however, is to try to order better weather in February or maybe suggest to check the weather history for southern Tunisia (or any other destination you are planning to travel to) ahead of time.
