Whales and Waves

Absolutely stunning part of Kertasari. We ended up leaving early though because there is a weird vibe here. Nice scenic accomodation with palm trees and right on the beach. Given a room with two single beds for a couple. Offered another room with a double bed but only if we paid more as the room was bigger. Didn’t look too much bigger. Wi-fi was in main restaurant area but didn’t reach the rooms. All extras were extremely overpriced. Cost of hiring a scooter or transport/taxi was double than we found In the rest of Sumbawa . When we asked why we were told because there isn’t much else around. Have one of the scooters back because it was so broken, no mirrors, felt like it would fall apart. Ended up leaving early as there’s a weird vibe there and moving to another accomodation in the area who charged normal Indonesian prices. 30min scooter into closest town for other food at local warungs. Owner kindly took us around to the local surf spots and shared local knowledge.

Whales and Waves is a little piece of paradise. Off the beaten track for sure but well worth the journey. Right on the beach, bungalows are set amongst the palm trees surrounded by grass with a fence to keep the children in. We had the most spectacular sunsets with goats and buffalos trotting along in front of the resort. Bungalows were perfect for a family of 4 with separate room and a common area. Denis and Yuli and the whole team were wonderful. Definitely recommend a visit.

Lieblose, jedoch sehr saubere Zimmer, kein einziger Platz zum gemütlich im Garten oder Strand liegen, Empfang nicht unbedingt herzlich, kein Welcome-Drink, sondern lediglich der Kommentar, dass das Zimmer erst in 30 Min parat ist. Wir sassen auf dem Parkplatz und warteten. Essen versalzen, kein einziger Kellner kennt einem wieder oder gibt einem das Gefühl willkommen im Restaurant zu sein. Kein Pool, Strand zwar schön, aber man kann nicht laufen gehen, da der Sand so einsinkt, dass es super anstrengend ist. Am Meeresgrund alles Seegrasplantagen, die bei Ebbe sichtbar sind, bei Flut zwar nicht optisch sichtbar, aber die Idee da zu baden und sich an den Netzen und Pfälen zu verletzen ist ist nicht sehr einladend. Ich habe niemanden schwimmen gesehen. Für Surfer mag der Ort gut sein, aber für Menschen, die sich ein paar schöne Tage im und um das Hotel suchen, total ungeeignet. Am Schluss der 3 Tage wurden wir vom Taxi nicht abgeholt und verpassten fast unseren Flug. Die Dame des Hotels hat es noch auf uns abschieben wollen, wir hätten nicht gebucht. Die Bestätigung des Reiseveranstalters hatten wir aber schwarz auf weiss. Wir haben das Flugzeug 5 Min vor Boarding erreicht, sind aber halsbrecherisch über die Insel gerast, so dass ein Unfall kein Wunder gewesen wäre.

Pas d'accueil, pas de WiFi dans les chambres, resto cher et mauvais sans parler du petit déjeuner minable. Hôtel vieillissant odeur de moisi dans les chambres... Très déçu de cet endroit par rapport aux photos !! Le personnel ne vous calcule pas incroyable.
