The red town appears at the end of the winding mountain road. This town where we have been living used to be a mining town centered on copper mining and Bengala (Red Iron Oxide) production from the middle of the Edo period.Copper and Bengala bring great wealth to Fukiya. Transportation had been inconvenient in the age of Edo since it is in the mountain. At that time, a grand town of 300 meters builds becomes the characteristic spot.Even when the mine is closed, the city is still protected by the local residents.We have been working to protect the townscape earlier than others in Japan.It was selected as the 8th important traditional buildings preservation area of the country since 1977. Machiya Stay Fukiya Senmai is reconstructed from a 140-year-old traditional Japanese house in the corner of the town to one villa for rental. While respecting the beauty of a traditional townhouse, it is equipped with modern facilities for a comfortable stay. Only one set of customers is accepted one day. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel are available by reservation. Please contact us for details.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Machiya Stay Fukiya Senmai.
The hospitality from the host was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed a quiet night relaxing at the stay.
The breakfast was delicious and everyone was so welcoming.
