"Un hotel molto strano: gigantesco ma, i primi giorni di maggio, completamente vuoto. Non è un modo di dire: su un centinaio di camere saremo stati probabilmente in 6. L’albergo è un po’ datato, ma le camere sono grandi ed il bagno accettabile. La qualità del sonno buona anche se penso che con più affollamento l'insonorizzazione delle camere non sia il massimo. La colazione sufficiente. Una nota di merito per la cena. Si prenota al momento del check in e ci sono, di norma, due menu fissi, molto abbondanti. Quello che abbiamo scelto noi era sinceramente meglio delle aspettative: vari assaggi di salumi e formaggi locali ed una abbondante porzione di pesce ricoperto di cipolle con maionese (delicatissima) accompagnata da patate. Ho faticato vista la quantità ma comunque l’ho finito perché era oggettivamente molto buono. A volte è proprio vero che trovi piccole gemme dove meno te le aspetti."

"The Vine House at Quinta São Luiz is one of the few Quintas with accommodation situated just above the River Douro waters`edge. Most rooms have a large balcony/terrace with magnificent views - make sure you choose one of these! The rooms are immaculately clean, modern, airy, fully equipped with coffee- machine, Mini Bar, hairdryer, a big walk-in shower and there`s good access throughout. The swimming pool is brand new and there is also a super restaurant, so once you are there, you don`t need to leave for dinner. The terrace is the best place to sit - weather permitting - especially at sunset. Breakfast is simple but fresh and of good quality. The Cellar is open to visits and a number of Tastings are available for visitors and house guests alike. The staff are welcoming throughout and very well trained. They also have a well stocked Wine and Port Shop. One of the best places to stay, in my opinion, in the Douro Valley."
