Hotel in zona Gauntlet Birds of Prey – Eagle & Vulture Park, Knutsford, Tabley Superior

I've stayed here before when it was a lot better. Nowadays the outside of the building is in desperate need of decorating, with paint flaking off the walls. First thing that went wrong was the booking from Trip.com somehow became lost in the system despite us have received an acknowledgement number from the hotel. Next, the sink did not hold water because the rubber seal in the plug was worn out. The bathroom has no windows and the fan did not work so smells linger. On the second day the hot water tap in the sink stopped flowing - no water, neither hot nor cold. They readily fixed that for us when we complained, but we decided not to risk showering for our stay in case the water failed again. The TV remote did not turn the TV on - I found that there was a switch on the TV we could use to turn it on and off, so we used that instead and the remote fortunately worked for everything else needed on the TV. On the last morning my wife wanted to use the hairdryer and found it did not work - upon checking, I found that the wire had been pulled right out of the switch. We never found the bar. Lastly - the breakfasts. The Friday and Saturday meals were very good, but the Sunday breakfast was served by a different staff member who was quite parsimonious. My wife and I both ordered the full English breakfast, but what we got on the Sunday was one breakfast shared between two plates. Two rashers of bacon were simply cut in two, with my wife getting the meaty end of the two rashers and I getting the fatty end. There was one egg each - not two - and the scrambled eggs we ordered were merely stirred to break the yolk rather than properly scrambled. The portion of beans was minimal, not even a child's portion. We saw another diner having the same treatment and he was not pleased either. The room was a bit too warm for us but we could not find any way of adjusting the temperature. On the plus side, the bed was nice and firm. Reception staff were not always easy to get hold of or we would have passed all our complaints on to them as we came across them, but we had lots to do and did not want to waste our time. It's a shame, because it is the best hotel for us location-wise, but we won't be going back.

We stayed at the Hartford Hall for one night which was way more than enough. The hotel looks really nice from the online pictures and most reviews are pretty positive although I have to wonder if they stayed in the same place as we did. We arrived at the hotel around 4.30pm on a Friday afternoon and waited to checkin at a small booth in the main bar. No one was there but the barman was friendly and told us someone would be with us soon. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and gave us our room key for ”Clotton” room. We made our way through the bar towards an outbuilding which was where the rooms were located along a smelly corridor with filthy carpets. There were lots of dogs in the bar and some very small children (toddlers) just wondering around, it felt like a kennel come creche!! Our room cost £105 breakfast not included, and was quite spacious with a large bed and was nice and warm. But within minutes we could smell a musty damp aroma which was coming from the bathroom. All appeared clean and dry so we turned the bathroom lights on and the extraction fan started. This controlled the smell. We popped down to the bar for some light food as we were going into Northwich for dinner later. We ordered garlic bread with cheese, buttermilk chicken and fries. This small plate selection came to just under £19. The food arrived and the buttermilk batter was burnt, and we are still looking for the cheese that was supposed to be on the garlic bread. The food was really poor and the whole place seemed to be trying to be something that it's not. We came back to the room for a shower and this was when we realised why the room was musty. The shower try is too small and there was no glass screen at the end of the shower so water sprayed everywhere. We had to use all the hand towels to keep the floor dry. It was a real mess. We went out for the evening and came back to the hotel at bang on 11pm and were looking forward to a few drinks. We went to the bar only to be told ”we are closed”!!! So off to bed we went. Our room was right angles to the pub which was located on the very end of the building and parallel to a very busy road. The room had old and ineffective double glazing and so we had constant road noise all night. Neither of us slept and was one of the worst experiences we have had in a hotel. At 8.30am we checked out. We mentioned to the lady who was at the check in desk that we had had an awful night to which she replied ”yes the road is noisy”. We also mentioned that we couldn't get a drink last night and her reply was ”we are a pub with rooms, not a hotel”. We will never eat or stay here again and definitely would not recommend. It's awful.

Ho solo dovuto scrivere un commento sul mio soggiorno qui. Beh ... questo era il mio terzo hotel in 4 notti di viaggio. Era anche il più economico, e l'unico che avevo avuto paura! Oh, quanto potevo essere sbagliato! Dal momento in cui sono entrato, il ricevitore è stato così amichevole e utile. Benvenuto, gentile e professionale. Ho chiesto se c'era un frigo che potessi usare per immagazzinare alcuni prodotti alimentari che viaggiavo con e che mi hanno gentilmente messo in zona di personale per me durante la notte. Non potevo fare abbastanza per aiutare. L'hotel si sente più come un nuovo ostello moderno che un hotel. La vibrazione nella zona comunale si sentiva molto come un ostello classico. Era caldo, amichevole e accogliente. Il tè e il caffè liberi erano grandi. La colazione era solo continentale, che non avevo capito. Le camere sono molto piccole, come avevo previsto, ma funzionali, abbondante di socche da carico, buona doccia calda con attrezzature. Quando sono arrivato alla stazione al terminal 1, volando dal terminal 1 il giorno dopo, è un passo con sacchetti pesanti. Non c'è autobus o alternativa per arrivare al terminal 1, solo il collegamento Skylink. Sarebbe stato bello, ma gli scalatori che si muovono sul collegamento sono stati spostati. Quando ho chiesto al personale dell’hotel di non lavorare per mesi. Non so perché, ma avrebbe reso più facile il viaggio dall'hotel, quindi era una vergogna. In generale, un soggiorno molto buono e inaspettato. Per il prezzo, mi fermerò di nuovo. Grazie a tutti i dipendenti per un tale piacevole benvenuto.

Literally a short walk to the Trafford Centre and the tram stops so easy access to city centre too. Staff were lovely and accommodatingto our needs. The rooms were bigger than expected and lovely big shower. There was free WiFi and every room had ac and plenty of energy outlets. Breakfast was included and was of a very good quality. I would definitely stay again.
