My stay at the JW Marriott Gold Coast during the Christmas holidays was unfortunately marred by several issues.
The receptionist’s demeanor was not welcoming, and the hotel’s onboarding process was unclear, necessitating us to ask for more information.
The room service was subpar. We found that bathroom essentials were not restocked regularly, and the towel supply was inadequate for our family of three, leading to frequent requests for additional items.
We also encountered problems with the billing system. Unrecognized charges appeared on our bill summary, which we had to clarify with the front desk.
During our stay, my daughter twisted her leg and was unable to walk. We sought advice from the concierge about renting a child’s wheelchair. While they did check their storeroom for a possible stroller, the options available were unsuitable due to their size and cleanliness. When we asked for help in finding a place to rent a wheelchair, the concierge suggested we search online ourselves. We eventually received assistance from local shop staff, who provided contacts for pharmacies that rent wheelchairs. This lack of support from the hotel was disappointing.
The checkout process was fraught with issues as well. The same receptionist processed our checkout and an extra day’s room charge was erroneously added to our bill. When I requested a correction and a final copy of the bill, the receptionist reacted unprofessionally, discarding our room card dismissively.
These experiences have led me to reconsider future stays at JW Marriott, a hotel that purports to be a 5-star establishment. I hope this review will shed light on these issues and prompt improvements in the hotel’s service.
