Barcelo Royal Beach Hotel

Lovely hotel and very pleasent staff, no complaints about the food and drinks. We stayed the last week of September and we were their on the last day when hotel was closing for the season. Hotel reception gave us the A/I right up until we got picked up at 7.30pm. The restaurant staff were lovely and friendly as were the bar staff. The red wine and local beer were both so nice. So much choice of food and desserts although 3 days into holiday the porridge oats were taken of, plenty of egg choices for breakfast however you wanted them cooked. Hot and cold drinks machines to help yourself. Food served most of the day indoors and outdoors. Pool area are lovely but they do need to fix some loose tiles around some of the pools, pool towels given out by indoor pool. Seating areas in the bar area need to to be refurbished, the sofas etc. We were given a duluxe room on arrival and a bag with sandwiches and water and pastries as it was 10.30pm. Large bathrooms with bath and walk in shower. Clean towels in our room every day, cleaners work so hard. Tv a bit hit and miss with not many english channels. A/I bar open till 11pm then sports bar downstairs where you can buy drinks after that time. The location is excellent, 2 mins walk to the beach front where all the shops, restaurants and bars are in Sunny Beach. Found it a really nice place, 1st time to Bulgaria and cant wait to go back.

The hotel is of a good standard and the staff speak good English. In terms of facilities they have 3 out door pool and one in door pool. The beauty section is very good and there 4 types of meat with each sittings of food On the down side it limited for people with disabilities rooms in the room but plus side lots of lifts

Staff at this hotel are loverly and friendly, especially Todor with his show on the last night, which is a major plus for this hotel. The food is fine, standard all inclusive buffet with plenty of choice. They have a wide selection of soft (Pepsi branded) and alcoholic drinks available, although as we were at the end of the seasons they had run out of a few options. The hotel itself could do with a refurbishment to bring it up to date. Some areas appear to have been recently upgraded, the sports bar as an example. The rest of the hotel does need refurbished or at the very least some maintenance. Air conditioning units are very loud on the higher settings, pools have loose and missing tiles and are very cold. The spa complex does need a full overhaul as it’s showing its age. Same story with the rooms, they are nice enough but just need refurbished. The biggest issue was my partner getting stuck in the lift. The emergency button in the lift didn’t connect to anything and I had to alert staff after receiving a phone call. Although the staff were nice they didn’t really seem to know what to do which was a little bit worrying leading to a 30/45 minute wait to get the lift door open enough for my partner to jump down as it was stuck between floors. The next day the guest relations manager was very nice and apologised for the issue upgrading our room to a sea view and booking us a complimentary massage. Only other thing to mention is the public toilets and sometimes the corridors have an awful smell.

I have an apartment at the hotel and I must compliment the hotel management on the continued high standard of the grounds, pools, gym, spa area etc. Whenever I arrive I just walk through reception area to the pool area and enjoy the view or have a beer before checking in. The breakfasts also I must compliment on, what a terrific choice and standard with a chef on hand to give choice of eggs also if requested. I am trying to eat healthy but been English/Irish I had to try the large Cumberland sausages - which had a lovely flavour....there were 3 different choices I think, also I watching the breads but had a finish on a croissant.....just lovely view of the lovely pools too - shout out also to Desislava Todarova in the Galaxy office at reception - the Developers and management company whom is very knowledge and just lovely Patrick - Block E

Room nice and spacious, pools are lovely and clean, and the gardens are well kept. The problem this hotel has is that the food is either unavailable or cold and nasty. There are 2 restaurants in the main building, both serving different food, one you can never get into as there are never any tables available the other has plenty of tables but little to no food available, unless you just want a salad, I spoke to the manager in charge and asked if any of the food was going to be replenished as there was still 1.5 hrs of dinner service left, I was told the kitchen needed 5 mins and everything would be replenished. We waited 15 mins and nothing was brought out, we had to leave the hotel and eat out that night. The pool bar puts food out at lunchtime again this is all cold, cold pasta, cold chips, cold burgers, cold chicken it is all left open not covered, so the wasps and the flies have a field day. When we go all-inclusive, we usually have 1 or 2 meals out, but with this holiday, we have ended up eating out most nights. It's a shame the food let's the hotel down as they could do much better

Not a five star hotel, On arrival there were only two family’s so no waiting at reception,passport given and in return we were given our key cards and directed back out of the hotel turn right and look for block A. After a two hundred meter walk we came to the entrance, no offer of help with our baggage. The entrance looks like a block of flats a bit run down and not welcoming, the picture shows the entrance showing a tile that had fallen of the step. There is no reception here or any facilities not even a WC. The apartment was clean but dull ever-thing a brown or beige and a bit dated. Back to the reception due to a lot a of water on the bathroom floor and no toiletries.(toilet rolls). I asked do we have to walk out of the building to get to the main building and security explain the route and which corridors to use, you do come out at the back of the building down a number of stairs then across towards the main building. I asked where are the Restaurant's and do we need wrist bands for drinks, these were over looked because they were busy while booking in. I explained she booked us in and no one was waiting. So reception large bright and clean completely different from the blocks around it. Pool area, sun-beds all gone by 07:30, I’m a early riser and like to read, a lot of guest complain around 10:00am that their is none left, most beds are not used till after lunch. Bar staff work hard and you never wait long to be served, I’m sat near the bar writing this review and all the tables still have last nights drinks on them, these don’t get cleared off till the bar opens at 10am, never seen this at any hotel regardless if five star or not. Pools: two main one’s, both have broken or loose tiles, Aqua-aerobics during the day. Show- time, the stage is small on a patch of grass with what looks like park bench’s. Entertainment poor unless your six or below. Two restaurants both serving the same food, these never seem busy. Food wise I can’t complain plenty choice and cooked fresh. Sports bar(22 tvs): Went watch to watch the Manchester City match, only one of the of the Tv,s showing this, asked for the sound up but the staff like the music channels. Left drink and went across the road to watch. Location: ideal for the beech and shopping,using the back gate. Out of the front door, go left a number of Restaurants with artist on and a short walk to flower street. Has a base great location, as for the five star rating they need to address this and adjust the price accordingly.
