My stay at the Royal Sun Hotel was highly disappointing. From the moment we arrived, the experience was frustrating. Despite being tired after a long journey, we were left standing outside our room in the early hours of the morning because the key fob didn’t work. Having to return to reception at 2 AM to sort this out was not the welcome anyone would expect at a supposedly well-regarded hotel. The check-in process was incredibly slow, and the staff were unhelpful and indifferent throughout our stay. After realising that the hotel was located too far from my family, I requested a room change. However, it took a full two days to accommodate this, which felt unnecessarily long. Even once we moved rooms, the experience didn’t improve. The rooms were outdated and lacked the modern touches you’d expect at this price point. Unfortunately, housekeeping left much to be desired—our room was never properly cleaned, and we often had to request fresh towels. In addition, there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, only in the lobby, which was an inconvenient and outdated setup. The lighting around the hotel was poorly timed, staying on for only a few moments at night, making it difficult to navigate safely. The pool area was nice. But the area was dangerously slippery, leading to several falls among the children in our group. Even the lifeguard was seen slipping multiple times and did not seem to be paying much attention to the pool, raising serious safety concerns for everyone. Dining was also disappointing. Although the food itself was decent, the restaurant service was slow. The bar service was similarly lacking—often, there were no staff to be found, and we were left waiting for drinks for so long that we often gave up altogether. The hotel’s facilities were also poorly maintained. The reception toilets were not well-kept, and it was clear they hadn’t been cleaned for several days. Another major inconvenience was that only one key fob was provided per room, which was frustrating for a group. This became particularly problematic on our last day when the key fob stopped working altogether, preventing us from accessing the outdoor area. This added yet another layer of frustration to an already disappointing stay. In summary, the Royal Sun Hotel failed to meet expectations on multiple levels. The rude and unhelpful staff, the poorly maintained facilities, and the lack of basic amenities left us feeling more stressed than relaxed. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I would advise other travelers to look elsewhere until significant improvements are made.
