Don’t let the name fool you. You’ll pay Waldorf prices for a sub-Marriott experience. First, the pluses. The valets are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. We didn’t eat in the restaurant, but the room service food was very good, albeit very overpriced (one bagel, fruit salad, two pots of coffee came to just over $100 dollars after all the additional taxes and service charges). Now the not so good news. Don’t expect the luxury you would expect from Waldorf. The overall feel was somewhere between a Marriott and a Courtyard. Canned and nothing special, industrial around the edges. Our suite was not in great shape. The sofa was stained, and deck railing was disintegrating before our eyes. The room must have been 80 degrees when we checked in, but the AC was weak and the windows didn’t open, so our first night was pretty hot. Our deck faced the courtyard pool and relaxation was out of the question. We had Bon Jovi and similar blaring on loudspeakers in the afternoon and early evening. We went to join the fun one day and the pool area was actually empty (not sure who the loud music was for). There were waitstaff for poolside service, but they weren’t waiting on anyone, just gabbing on the side and doing a very good job of ignoring us. We just left that train wreck after 20 minutes with no service. Overall, this place falls far short of what I expect from a Waldorf, and it kind of put me off the brand all together.
