Excellent location with a great restaurant. Spa is something else with great views of the Tatras, with just a short walk to the ski lifts and bars. The service was exceptional especially Eva who was the best! Eva helped with our choices and was great to talk too. Highly recommended when you’re looking for a 5 star hotel in a picturesque part of the world.

This the best spot to stay in High Tatras. No other Hotel in the area comes any close to the Kempinski Hotel. The location is just breathtaking, the building according to my children is the most beautiful palace they've ever seen. The cream on the top is the team of the Hotel with their exceptional service and special care they look after their guests. It was our best 3 nights staying in a Hotel thanks to Kempinski.

The hotel does not have an a/c. Temperature was not high yet sleeping with an open window brought in bugs, which was awfully disturbing. Hotel should at least have nets on windows? Some rooms have a cooling system which is better than nothing, however it’s not quiet enough, and not cold, but at least you can close the window. Pool area doesn’t open to the outside so no air and no a/c. Becomes quite warm unless you are in the pool. Gym has no a/c either. A room for approximately 500 euros doesn’t even have a kettle let alone a coffee machine quite standard today definitely in 5 star hotels. You have free parking outside but the garage costs 50 euros per night!!! Breakfast has a nice selection but vegetables were mushy. Perhaps that‘s in the area as another restaurant had same issue. I assume hotel is better for a winter stay… We did manage to enjoy somehow but it was not worth the cost. However, staff all over the hotel was extremely nice and attentive and tried to be as helpful as possible. Otherwise i would have rated the experience as terrible.

I cannot fault any part of this hotel. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional. We had two connecting rooms which was perfect for a family of 4. The rooms were spotless, luxurious and well maintained. When we arrived the rooms were quite stuffy, so we had the doors open for our stay. We had zero bug problems and the temperature was perfect. The food was outstanding through our stay. The breakfast buffet was great with a big selection. Dinner was very glamorous with the setting feeling very old school - in a good way. Good quality and fresh ingredients made for well presented and delicious meals. The spa and pool area was very impressive with beautiful views of the lake from the jacuzzi. The location of the hotel is also worth noting - great for lake walks, not far from the sports complexes and hikes up the road and not too long a drive to Lomnicky peak. Perfect for us and all our trips. Whilst you do get what you might expect from this luxury brand, what makes this hotel stand out, is undoubtedly the staff. Simon, the concierge is truly brilliant and could not have been more helpful. Staff at breakfast and dinner (special note to Mariana and Viktoria) were helpful, knowledgable and friendly. For anyone with children, this hotel is a must. Little touches of robes, toys and a playroom on the first floor, alongside the most friendly staff who poured kids champagne at dinner like it was the most important of the day, truly made this unforgettable for my children. Would I recommend this hotel - absolutely! Will I coming back? Guaranteed.

A phenomenal resort in the heart of the Tatra Mountains. Kempinski Hight Tatras has been on my list of resorts to visit for a long time. However, I waited a long time for these wonderful moments spent in this resort. For people who know the Kempinski standard - I will say briefly: it is 10/10. It is in the same list of top notch places as best hotels in St. Moritz or Courchevel. service and standard are extremely high. The food is ultra expensive and the price is no different from the most expensive hotels. The views and atmosphere are 10/10. For luxury lovers, this is the only option in this part of Europe.

PRO It is a fantastic hotel in the High Tatras, located just next to a beautiful (but touristy) lake. The hotel is like a castle from a fairy tale. The staff is very professional and exceptionally friendly. We rented e-bikes in the hotel (they have 4), and they advised us on a route to follow to a high mountain lake. They also helped us buy last-minute tickets to Skalnatá dolina (an observatory located on the top of a mountain that is only accessible via a cable car that can be booked in advance, which is a must-do). The swimming pool area is very nice and equipped with all the services (including food & beverage). The breakfast in the grand restaurant was excellent. CON The rooms do not have air conditioning. By the way, we have noticed that most hotels in Slovakia do not have air conditioning. Perhaps that need was much smaller in the past but with today's warmer summers. The hotel does provide (lovely) fans to keep you cool. Fortunately, the mountain air is much cooler at night, so the fans can keep the room fresh more effectively.

The hotel is undoubtedly a beautiful building with incredible amenities!! Unfortunately during summer the rooms are hot and stuffy !! We complained and were told that the building has a cooling system “not A/C” - trouble is it dosnt work. Reception told us to open the windows. That’s great but as it’s in a national park lots of bugs fly into the room and as it gets light at around 4-5am you get woken up early. It would appear that over time many people have complained about the hot stuffy rooms and the manager does nothing tangible to improve the situation. We were told that because it’s in a national park they can’t install A/C ( don’t know how true this is ) but hey why not install ceiling fans or during summer put large pedestal fans in the room. This is an expensive 5 Star hotel, no more excuses do something !! Also during our stay my wife was sick with a cold so stayed in the room. On our last day my daughter and I went to breakfast ( which was lovely ) and when we left we took three bottles of water back to our room for my wife. When we checked out the hotel tried to charge us 30 Euros for the water. There was no notice in the dining room that the water was chargeable and the staff did not get us to sign for the water. I explained that the water was for my wife who had not been well enough to come to breakfast but the receptionist did not care. When you consider what we paid for our two night stay the hotel should be ashamed of itself !! We have been travelling around Europe for two months and this is the worst treatment we have received anywhere. Kempinski Hotels you won’t be receiving any future business from us !!

What a surprise. The only reason we stayed at this hotel is because I am getting older and the thought of driving over six hours between Krakow and Budapest did not excite me. We looked and this luxury hotel was the best alternative, almost exactly half way. Convenience is one thing. Offering an outstanding value is much more important. Of the twelve hotels on our journey, this is definitively in the top three. I should mention that it is a beautiful location, high in the mountains on a mountain lake. Although this was not ski season or summer hiking season, the weather was just warm enough for a stroll around the lake on well maintained walking paths. I am a big advocate of first impressions. Driving up we were greeted and welcomed into the hotel, our car was parked, our luggage properly taken care of, and the reception desk immediately offered a glass of Champaign. This type of attentive service was the norm for our whole visit. Food service was outstanding. We had an excellent lunch in the bar upon arrival. That evening, the dining room offered a wide assortment of choices with a very complete wine selection. The Sommelier assisted us with a perfect Slovakian wine to match our entrée. Breakfast, my favorite meal ,was equally as good, with many local specialties. Kempinski has an excellent reputation and the Grand Kempinski High Tatras did not disappoint. It made a planned travel stop into a very special stay.
