What an amazing experience Seriously I’m over the top We had a 4 day experience for a wedding there and every day was amazing from this place. The owners of the Castle just happened to be around and were so helpful and engaging. 1-rooms were beautiful and fully equipped 2-food and bar were on point 3-grounds were obviously amazing (it’s a castle duh) 4-staff were super helpful for arranging day trips and giving advice 5-proximity to major sightseeing was awesome Highly recommend all day and can’t wait to return

We went for a wedding: this hotel does a LOT of weddings and exceptionally well too. We stayed two nights and had an excellent time. The rooms are expensive (Irish hotels are) but this was worth it. The rooms are huge and well-appointed and our bathroom practically as large as our bedroom at home. And everyone else’s rooms seemed likewise. The breakfasts were great and the wedding catering excellent: the beef main course was very fine and then they came round with second steaks - though I don’t see how anyone managed two. The two aspects that really stood out were the exceptional surroundings with beautiful flowers everywhere and the really delightful staff team: nothing seemed too much trouble and there were a lot of charming young workers beavering away both in the hotel and banqueting suite. We felt very well looked after throughout our stay. Oh and the wedding noise didn’t impinge on the hotel at all - just as well as there are weddings almost everyday at this time of year.

OUT OF THIS WORLD! We had our legal wedding ceremony in Barberstown Castle in January this year, followed by the most beautiful meal in the castle keep. We partied in the Green Room bar and we had the time of our lives. Honestly from our first encounter with Deryn and the team in Barberstown we fell in love. We went in just to look at the venue and we left with a booking. There is literally nothing we could fault. The service, the food , the rooms all fab. The venue is magical, but the staff at this hotel are what makes it extra special. Honestly cannot wait to go back. Debbie & Andy Neary

Myself and a friend booked in for a night. Due to me being unwell we decided after much deliberation of which hotel to choose, and came to a decision that Barberstown would deliver what we were seeking. The rooms themselves were lovely, very comfortable and exactly what I needed in that sense. However, from the minute of our arrival I found the receptionist extremely difficult to deal with. As I mentioned I am unwell, so I was looking forward to checking in and getting rest. The receptionist made a palaver about us not having a booking for the restaurant when we were not necessarily there to dine. We asked about room service as it said on the website that was a service in the hotel, and again, the receptionist said that isn’t possible. We were left to wait in the lobby while she investigated this, even after I kindly asked if it was okay if I went to the room and I could always call down and find out the response. Eventually we were allowed to go up to our room. We then dined in the bar for a snack, where the staff were polite and attentive. I forgot my coat and the receptionist called and came up with it. When I answered the door and thanked her, she rudely said to me “You know there is no smoking in the rooms” to which I replied yes of course; puzzled why she was stating something so obvious to me. There was a side exit near to our room we used for smoking, as the only other option was through reception in our pyjamas. Upon checkout, a different woman at reception said just a minute after I asked to check out, and made a phone call to a member of staff that my room number was checking out. This was not standard procedure, so naturally we were unsure with what was going on. My friend forgot something in the room and ran back up, I was asked to take a seat in the lobby. When my friend returned she said the manager was in our room and was accusing us of smoking in the room saying it’s a criminal offence. My friend replied that she knew that and that is why we did not smoke in the room and if they checked the cameras they would see us using the side exit for smoking. This did not stop the manager from saying we were smoking in the room and found residue of tobacco on the desk as “proof” and said we would be fined. My friend explained that the smell of smoke was likely on our dressing gowns provided by the hotel and that we did not even open the windows once during our stay so it was obvious smoking was not done in the room. I asked to speak to the manager at reception upon knowing this information, as the booking was done on my card and I was not accepting a smoking fee when we followed the law and smoked outside, not in the room or the hotel. The receptionist made a phone call and ignored me and addressed my friend saying you already spoke to him, do you want to speak with him again? To which she replied well we don’t know what is going on, can we leave? The receptionist responded with a of course you can leave, making us feel stupid for askin

Stayed in barberstown last night for a short break. It was over 15 years since we last stayed and I have to say I was very impressed with the size and quality of rooms and the food and service. From a very friendly greeting on reception, to the complimentary hot drink on arrival to dinner and wine in the garden room - all were just perfect. The room was slightly dated but comfortable. For the size of the bathroom - a nice walk in shower would be a welcome upgrade but i do appreciate that the current bath with shower is in keeping with the castle theme. Breakfast this morning was top class. Lovely cold buffet followed by hot breakfast to order. Nice freshly squeezed orange juice which was lovely. Overall a very nice experience. We will definitely return.

A friend and I met in the Garden room yesterday for coffee and a catch up. I had requested seating in a private/corner area and not to be seated in an armchair due to mobility issues. My request was adhered to. Our Server was named Tim, a young man starting out on his career. His courteous manner, level of customer service and helpfulness was excellent. Tim would, in our opinion be an asset in any Business. I worked in a Customer Service Role all my life and I was very impressed with our interaction with Tim. Nothing was a problem, from changing chairs to relocating to Reception after coffee. We would like to wish Tim the very best of luck in his career.

My husband and I had our wedding and Day 2 celebrations at Barberstown Castle on 7th and 8th November 2024 with about 70 of our closest family and friends. It was an absolutely perfect experience that we cannot thank Ted, Sinéad and the Barberstown team enough for. From the very first encounter with Ted and Sinéad, we were blown away by the level of care and attention to detail given to planning our wedding and making sure that everything we were hoping for was looked after. From our beautiful tasting meal in the Barton Rooms Restaurant (with exquisite food, wine and much time given to us by the waiting staff and chefs to talk us through the dishes) to the countless phone calls, emails and in-person meetings, no request or question was too big or too small, and this meant that we had absolutely no concerns when our wedding day arrived about everything going smoothly, meaning that we could fully relax and enjoy the day knowing everything was taken care of. Having had initial consultations with several other wedding venues prior, we were impressed that the very first question we were asked when we first visited Barberstown Castle was what was most important to us for our wedding day (the first time anyone had asked us this) - the answer being that our beloved friends and family would be as well looked after as possible. From that point onwards, everything from Barberstown Castle's side centered around making that happen, which was exactly what we were hoping for. Not only was the venue beautiful and perfectly suited to the needs of our guests, but Ted and Sinéad were incredibly flexible during the planning process and happy to cater to the specific needs of our guests which included everyone from young babies to elderly relatives and many guests with specific dietary requirements and other needs. Nothing was a problem for Ted, Sinéad or Sarah in reservations (who ensured all of our guests had the best of accommodation and that all rooms that catered to our guests' specific needs). It is also worth noting that all of this from beginning to end took just 3 months to organise! On the day itself, everything went off without a hitch. Upon arrival we were immediately introduced to Paddy and his team who looked after the running of the entire event into the early hours of the morning. We had a gorgeous dove release and photoshoot on the grounds of the Castle, followed by a beautiful intimate wedding in Barberstown’s ceremony room adjoining the Banqueting Hall, where our wedding reception was later held. This was perfect for our guests, particularly for those with reduced mobility, as the entire venue was so well organised and nobody had far to go. Ted, Sinéad, Paddy and team were constantly present and so incredibly attentive, making sure that we and our guests wanted for nothing, always making sure that everyone was comfortable, fed and watered and that there was nothing else we needed. The food was absolutely out of this world, with second portions o

Ten days ago we had our three day wedding at Barberstown castle and it was sensational. We had our evening before in the Green room and meal in the castle, our wedding day was in the banquet hall and our final day in the Haggard Irish pub on site. It literally could not have gone any better. We'd like to say a huge thanks to Ted, Deryn, Lisa, Sinead, Bethan and the rest of the team who made our days truly magical. Our families and friends felt very welcome and said it was one of the best wedding's they'd been too. All staff were polite and attentive, the food was incredible and the rooms were fabulous. We'd definitely recommend Barberstown to any couple looking at potential wedding venues. Thanks for making our wedding weekend so special. Ailish & Phil

My wife and I had Sunday lunch at Barberstown Castle on even date, Sunday 15th December, 2024. The cost of Sunday lunch in the main restaurant is €42 per person. On arrival the staff were very courteous, polite and professional. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with a log fire burning. A perusal of the menu revealed that there was only a choice of three main courses. We choose salmon but when it was served we discovered that the vegetables were cold and the mass potatoes served with the main course was also cold. My wife had sherry trifle for desert and it was certainly not freshly cooked. It appeared to be lying about in excess of 24 hours. The fact of the matter was that it was inedible. The sherry trifle was absolutely awful and even the presentation was very poor. When my wife made a complaint to a member of staff the response she got was "sorry about that but we are very busy today with Christmas and all." The meal which was served to us did not resemble anything like a Christmas lunch. We will not be returning to Barberstown Castle for Sunday Lunch as out experience today was very distressing. T.J.
