Killin Hotel

Returned yesterday for 4 nights, we were given a wonderful room overlooking the Loch with a 4 poster bed. Really lovely hotel with a welcoming smile and a fond recognition to the fact we are returning guests. Fully recommend this hotel,charming and great value for money.

We stayed one night at this historic inn in the Scottish countryside and were absolutely charmed by it. We expected the hotel to be fairly subdued, but it was a beehive of activity when we arrived, as a local group was having a big charity fundraising dinner that evening - the hotel was hopping and we loved the energy. We were quite relieved when hotel staff were kindly able to squeeze us into the dining room for dinner, despite being more than fully booked for the evening. There weren't many other options nearby at that hour! The old property has a very characteristic old fashioned elevator, and the rooms, being totally honest, are a bit on the rustic side and could use a refresh. Nevertheless, we slept soundly and, for the rates being charged, we found the hotel to be a good value. Despite the hotel showing its age, or maybe because of the historical flavor, our stay at the Killin Hotel was a favorite on our trip through Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales.

We stayed here for one day/night, with dinner, bed breakfast and bottle of wine on arrival. On arrival with our little trained puppy we were nervous as it was her first stay in a hotel, shouldn't have been we were treated like gold especially Roxie,. 😀. Room was very comfortable, refurbished and spotless, with a lovely Cosy Bed and water bowl for Roxie. Food was delicious at dinner, would recommend the Scallops they were first class. Breakfast was hot, fresh and tasty. Good touch was wine on arrival in your room "which is a red can be changed to a white at the bar and the can keep chilled for your evening meal". Every member of staff we met were all lovely, and made us feel very welcome. Overall we a wonderful stay and will not hesitate in booking again, and thinking of booking the Christmas Break, which seems great value for money, and we sure Roxie would love her first Christmas here.

A cosy hotel and pleasant staff, and also of course a prime location in Killin. The hot drinks were a little on the steep side, eg £4.20 for green tea, and the service rather poor at breakfast, eg I stipulated no mushroom in my Scottish breakfast but this was overlooked and it also came out with no haggis. The restaurant is also hit and miss, eg the onion soup was lovely as were the chips, but the burger wasn’t particularly special at all, and the bread was rather cheap tasting. Not too bad overall but definitely not somewhere I’d recommend one go out of one’s way to visit…

Wonderful staff with a great sense of humour, great dinner and breakfast with huge portions. We had 2 rooms and both were very clean and lovely. Lovely views. Didn’t use the lift as we were on the 1st floor but it looked like fun. Other people that were staying were really lovely too, a great vibe all ‘round. Plus Killin is just beautiful

The best part about this hotel was the food and the staff. Our room was incredibly small with not even a chair to sit on. As for the bathroom, I’ve seen wardrobes bigger! You had to walk sideways to get in and heaven forbid you needed to turn around. The sink was in front of a scalding hot heated towel rail so you had to be careful not to take a step back and make sure you practically hugged the sink or suffer 3rd degree burns! - total health and safety hazard. To charge what you do for this room and think it’s ok is scandalous.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, the restaurant had great atmosphere and the food tasted great. The elevator is full of history and definitely not for the faint of heart 😂 Overall a very pleasant experience!

I guess you would describe this as a faded glory. The public rooms still hint at restrained luxury but elsewhere there is quite a lot of tired tartan and the bedrooms tend towards spartan. The food made up for this - lovely plump, juicy mussels, an excellent venison steak and super breakfast. Staff were terribly friendly and helpful. A good stay

What a lovely friendly hotel this is a doggie friendly hotel and has lovely staff ....we were slightly dissapointed by the mix up of the room we had booked and paid for . We booked a family room and the receptionist said she would upgrade us to a king-size bed . .when we looked in the room it had two little single beds in ..so after going back to reception and requesting out original family room everything was better the receptionist apologised everything was sorted out ...I had sent an email a few weeks before to make sure the extra bed was made up it hadn't been done but very swiftly after the mix up everything got sorted out...we had a very long wait for our dinner that was booked previously and ouf doggie sat for a few hours waiting for our table ....our beds were comfy fresh and clean and unlike the first room we were given opposite a skip we had a view of a court yard that really could be made to look nice with maybe flower beds and plants .I really hope this space is made to look better. Our meal was nice I had the veggy butter paneer cheese and my husband had a spicy burger we did enjoy our meals and the staff were exceptionally friendly and very nice which was a bonus after our mix up arrival our breakfasts were tasty and served by a lovely pleasant lady who treated our doggie yo sausage and egg we couldn't thank her enough as our doggie was just getting used to being away from home and it made het so happy she wolfed it back . The hotel is in a lovely area with a little walk to the river and a little walk over the walk to a bowling green .this village is a lovely little sleepy village with friendly people who made us feel very welcome .
