TRIGGER WARNING: sexual assault It’s a good thing the primary function of a hostel is to have somewhere to sleep because other than an incredible location a solid bed was all they had to offer (and even then the sheets were also not fitting the bed and were sliding all around). Not even counting that this was the place of my first ever sexual harassment, the bathrooms are really dirty and for a while there was no toilet paper in one of them and a very soggy roll that was god knows where in the other. Instead of hand soap I was supposed to wash my hands with a laundry detergent. And again, it was really dirty, and the shower isn’t draining so there is constantly water everywhere. I also wasn’t given a key a locker, but I will keep the benefit of the doubt here because I didn’t really need it so I didn’t ask for it. Even then the locker is tiny. It is also not particularly safe as there seems to be a lack of a proper locking system AND supervision, as the reception area is often left unattended (however at least the manager is pretty much always SOMEWHERE in the hostel). Not to add that there is no common space (unless you consider two couches at the reception area a living room) or kitchen. Moving on to what made me write this review. Ignoring the sexual harassment which I was simply unlucky to have went through as it could happen in better hostels as well and it depends on the people, not the place, I am not happy with how it was handled by the manager. I told him what had happened and he seemed very insistent on setting things right initially, but when he confronted the guy who harassed me and the guy denied it and called me crazy (also, the guy had been staying there for ten days and the manager clearly knew him better than me and seemed to have a preference), his solution was to simply move him to another room, while I stayed in a common room without a lock (he said that if anything happens he is sleeping in the next room but that doesn’t rally help). I told him that I didn’t feel safe and that I would leave, and he said that there was another woman staying in the room with this guy for some days now and there were no issues before. Unfortunately it was in the middle of the night and I had nowhere to go, so I decided to spend the night there anyway, since there were at least two other people staying with me in the room, and when I went outside to call my mum, the manager mocked me angrily, something like “ooh, okay, leave, go outside, I don’t care”. After a while I spent crying on the phone at the front door, he came to me and told me that he got rid of the guy. Initially I didn’t believe him but in the end he had nowhere to put him really so he probably did, and I am just really confused that he didn’t tell me earlier and mocked me first. In general the manager doesn’t seem to have a lot of respect for women, as was seen with how he behaved towards two other girls staying here when they got angry with him for overcharging them when they c
