Rooms fantastic but staff all seemed new. Firstly told wrong way to room 20. Beautiful room though. Either we were very unlucky with the staff or they are very new. I have worked in hospitality for over 20 years and 90% of staff couldn’t care less. To top it off we were last in the bar at 10.45 and the bar man made it very obvious we inconvenienced him by ordering our last drinks. Such a shame as we want to come back to the area to visit Burghley but will look for alternative accommodation

Quirky room in the eaves, number 26, is absolutely delightful . Up in the attic it has low headroom ( we were warned )but it's huge ! Really enjoyed our short stay, high quality extras complete a great experience. Helpful , enthusiastic staff , luxurious lounges with attentive service . Very impressed. Thank you

Beautiful hotel with lovely staff who were friendly and helpful from the minute we checked in to the moment we checked out. Fantastic location just a short walk to the town centre. We also took advantage of the burghley house package so breakfast and evening meal was included at a very reasonable price

Amazing experience,had the best day for our wedding ,bridal suite was great so big and luxurious, bed and pillows so comfortable. Beautiful setting and lovely breakfast, highly recommended, buffet excellent . Want to do it all again in the same place!

Fabulous hotel and wonderful food and service. It’s a real gem in the heart of Stamford and perfect for a weekend away. We popped in for Sunday lunch which was the best we’ve had in Stamford and especially nice with live music outside. No better place to while away a sunny afternoon and especially nice for any furry Freinds you have as they are always well catered for

Wonderful stay , everything was great ,the staff are very helpful ,the room was lovely with a comfortable bed and lovely decor.we breakfast was included ,all good quality and local produce which is always a great touch .Enjoyed the walk out at night through the gate that’s attached to the property onto Burleigh House grounds .

Really nice stay combining an overnight stay with dinner, bed and breakfast with a visit to Burghley House. Room was immaculate and well stocked and food was of an excellent quality. The easy access to the grounds and house was very pleasant

The William Cecil is well located for visiting Stamford with most places in this lovely town within walking distance. The staff were pleasant and very helpful. Breakfast also gets top marks. However, the dinner was rather ordinary and there were no specials (or at least none we were made aware of). The disappointment was with the room which bore little resemblance to that on the web-site (where they all look fabulous). I was told they had been “refurbished in a more minimal style” although frankly ours was dull and did not look finished. If they have been redone the web-site should be updated, otherwise the hotel are misleading customers.

First time visit and attracted by the mid week deal. We were not disappointed. Eloquent and friendly staff throughout our stay, quality food and service, comfortable room, large free car park and a five minute walk to the town centre with direct access for a walk on the Burghley estate. There was no traditional bar at the premises, only a lounge with waiter only service for drinks which felt strange and lacked the ambiance of popping into a bar for an informal drink. Full marks to staff and management for the way they conduct the business, thank you !
