Hotel a 3 stelle a Saint Ives

St Ives Bay is a large hotel which fronts onto Porthminister Beach and the terrace, the rooms are basic but clean and tidy albeit with a slightly dated decor. On my visit, the lift was out of order which made a room on the third floor a bit of a hike (but it's probably better for my health to get the steps in!) The hotel is perfectly positioned if you are using St Ives train station and is only a short stroll from the centre of town. The facilities at the hotel include reception, a bar and a large dining area, there is a car park to the rear (watch out for the birds resting in the rafters and pooping on the cars!) The hotel offers a buffet-style breakfast which includes both continental and full English options. Overall the hotel is good - it looks a bit out of date, saggy and worn but the service provided is good and the views around are fab.

Premetto che il proprietario è persona molto gentile e disponile. La camera che ci è stata assegnata era veramente piccola, in 3 impossibile aprire i bagagli. Il bagno cieco ha una ventola incrostata dalla polvere. Il marchingegno elettrico che gestisce la doccia impedisce di fatto di prelevare la doccetta per lavarsi senza fare la doccia integrale perché è incastrata in una incomprensibile struttura di plastica. Il letto matrimoniale è piccolo, da una piazza e mezza e su ruote…e dentro la camera c’è anche un tavolo che riduce ulteriormente lo scarso spazio disponibile. Se si prova ad aprire anche solo una valigia diventa impossibile muoversi. La colazione è abbastanza ricca. Il pane (industriale), però, è tenuto in un sacchetto di plastica che toccano tutti gli ospiti. Ho provato ad assaggiare un croissant ma era vecchio, quasi immangiabile. È una sistemazione casalinga molto lontana dal concetto di B&B di alta qualità. La posizione, poi, obbliga all’uso dell’auto perché il centro di St. Ives dista almeno 5 km dove trovare parcheggio è poi un’impresa. Il posteggio gratuito dell’auto sul retro albergo non esiste, ci stanno a malapena due auto e ci sono sette camere. Internet superveloce non pervenuto. Sistemazione idonea per viaggiatori senza particolari pretese e con il solo bagaglio a mano, molto inglese.

We had 2 nights here, 11-13 July. We arrived late, between 10-11pm, and the counter staff was very friendly n helpful. We did not manage to get dinner due to train delays but the front staff was kind to inform us that we could purchase some cold sandwiches and he would make sandwiches for us. 😊 The room price includes breakfast for which we were glad. We enjoyed the breakfast thoroughly. The views from the hotel overlooking the St Ives beach is truly amazing. The hotel grounds were immaculately maintained. You must walk through their walled garden … it is well landscaped and very beautiful. It felt like walking in some professionally well curated botanical garden. 👍🏼

First timers to St Ives for new years and it didn’t disappoint! The reviews are correct, family orientated celebrations with lovely locals (many travel to stay for new year) Our accommodation was perfect, great location and fantastic views of the coast line. Lorena and Dan are hospitable and friendly, great hosts. Our room was roomy and well equipped. Only thing missing for me was a decaf option for coffee but in fairness if I had asked I am sure it would have been accommodated. Towel were soft and fluffy, smelt like home unlike most hotels. They also provided hair straightener's which was a bonus! Situated 10 minutes from the harbour so prefect to explore but be mindful of a very steep climb back. Would we stay again… ABSOLUTELY! And would highly recommend.
