BORGO ACQUAIURA

We spent 2 weeks at the Borgo in June 2022 and we had a fantastic Italian vacation. Our group was 4 families, 8 adults and 8 children (mostly teens and preteens). Every family had their own apartment/house and we had the whole pool area for ourselves. Even the kids had their own apartment. There was a big common kitchen and eating area (also outside with grill) next to the pool area so we could all have dinner and breakfast together. All the apartments were nicely decorated and very well equipped (flat panel TVs, fridge, dishwasher, washing machine etc) although we mostly used the common kitchen area and rarely stepped into the apartment kitchens. The pool was just the right size for us and there were plenty of lounge chairs. The whole complex was beautifully landscaped (green grass, trees and flowers everywhere) and included breathtaking views on the local hillsides and forests. For entertainment we played table tennis and basketball. There was a small basketball court and playground in the garden. There were good tracks for hiking in the nearby mountains and small roads good for jogging as well. A large bluetooth speaker made sure we had plenty of lounge and party tunes. The location is great for exploring the nearby Italian lifestyle. We rented 4 cars from Avis in Spoleto (Fiat 500s 👍) and mostly used them for grocery trips to Spoleto and dinner excursions. There are plenty of great restaurants and pizzerias to choose from all within 20min drive from the Borgo. But the best part about the whole place was the host and the staff! Vito is fluent in English and he helped us get everything we needed for the trip, even booked a shuttle bus to pick us up at the airport at night and made sure we had something for breakfast in the morning. We first planned to stay there in 2020 but then the COVID pandemic hit us and all flights were cancelled but Vito graciously refunded the prepayment and invited us again in 2022. Nicu, the onsite caretaker of the house, was also very friendly and helped us with every request, eg driving us to the grocery store and car rental, recommending and booking restaurants etc. The only minor issue is that Nicu doesn’t speak English, only Italian. But with the help of translation apps and our legs/hands we managed to communicate nicely. Although Nicu lives right next to the apartments he never intruded on us and always respected our privacy. All in all this is a great place to vacation for groups of friends or large families. I recommend booking the whole place so that you can enjoy a private luxurious vacation in the Italian countryside. Molto bene!

This has been one of the most enjoyable vacations for our family and friends. I booked the 5 cottages in 2020 for 3 weeks in April 2021. We looked forward to spending time with family and friends. Along came Covid and we couldn’t fulfill our Italian dream as planned. Vito the owner was so very understanding and generous to let us change not only the month of arrival but also the year. So, in April 2022 we finally arrived in my favorite area in Italy. We were greeted by Nico , his wife and his English speaking daughter. They made these excited, energetic Americans so very welcome. The cottages were spotless and well appointed , the grounds are beautiful, the village is most charming. We had blissful 3 weeks in this paradise. We made great use of the common great room by hiring Leonardo as a chef to give us cooking lessons. We met Vito and his lovely wife who also live at the property. I can not describe how wonderful our vacation turned out after all the Covid problems the world has suffered. We felt so well received and taken care of. The property is superb and made to accommodate multiple couples in comfort and style. We enjoyed every minute we spent at Acquaiura and we will definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone who wants a true Italian experience. We have just got back from a most wonderful holiday at Borgo Acquaiura (Spoleto Splash). As a family of 22 members ranging in age from 79 years to 9 months we could not have found a better place to relax and share each others company after Covid. All have commented on how beautiful the setting is and how well equipped the accommodation is. The views are stunning and the many shaded areas were perfect for the hot weather. Although we were a large group each individual family had their own private accommodation and shaded garden areas to enjoy. As a group we particularly found the veranda seating area extremely useful. Not only for the opportunity for Leonardo’s team to come and cook for us but also for family meals in the evenings and late night gatherings of the children and grand-children as they played cards and relaxed together after the long hot days. We would like to thank Norma (Agent) for recommending this property to us; then Vito (the owner) not only for his patience and understanding as we rolled over the dates during the Covid pandemic but for having such a beautiful set of properties for us to enjoy and for being so helpful with detailed arrangements. The Caretaker on site is a gem. Nothing was to much trouble for him; so attentive to the needs of the guests. All on top of his very busy daily routines. This holiday was very special to us after Covid and we all will have special memories of Borgo Acquaiura to share for many years to come. Trip july/August 2022

We spent two weeks here with 12 other friends. It was in April, so everything came into bloom during our visit. The property is very well maintained. The on-site property manager, Nicu, was always available and quickly addressed any questions or concerns. He speaks Italian, but translator app worked very well! We stayed in Casa Piscina. There were just 2 of us in this unit, but it is a 2bed/2bath unit. Private garden to enjoy your morning coffee in the sun. All linens were first class and were changed upon request. Fully furnished. Kitchen well stocked for drinking wine or preparing a complete meal. Bathrooms are modern with plenty of hot water. A washer is also available for your use. Close to a great cafe/bakery, BarBella. Easy access for day trips to other villages. Owner, Vito, visited and it was great to learn the history of this hilltop borgo. If you are looking for city life, this isn't for you. Very peaceful with stunning views. A place to kick back. Perfect place for families or groups that enjoy traveling together. Thanks for sharing this peoperty with us. Mary and Bob
