Steam Plant Hotel

Great location and the service by the front desk was exceptional

I thought I booked a kitschy hotel. I was wrong. The vibe of it was that of a seedy motel. The front desk was in a little shack in the parking lot because it really was a motel not a hotel. All the rooms had separate entrances. The staff was very friendly. That’s about the only positive. I booked it—partially because it came with breakfast and that it was supposed to have a gym. When I checked in, I learned that breakfast was at a restaurant a block away and they didn’t have a gym. If I wanted to go to a gym, they said I could go to one 2 blocks away at a different hotel. All I needed to do was tell them I was staying here. The room wasn’t super clean and the bed was just a single mattress on a metal post frame.

Room seems updated. Those darn trains though. Apparently, ear plugs were provided? I never saw any. All night trains. Breakfast was good

Great location for visiting the area. Cool art, wonderful staff, played a old silent cartoon on the wall, breakfast down the street Rosie café. The only problem is train noise.

Room wasn’t ready until 4:45. Told multiple times starting at 2 that it would be 15-30 min. Ended up having to shift plans because of this. Other than that, room was good, included breakfast was nice as well.

Trains all night every 20 minutes and the windows are not sound tight. They leave early plugs in the room for you, but very difficult to get a decent night of sleep.

Love this spot! Cute, clean, dog friendly and central to anything you would need or want to do! Staff is always super friendly and helpful. We had an issue with our tv/cable and the receptionist came to our room and fixed the problem within minutes. Especially love the projector of vintage cartoons that plays once it gets dark out! Thanks for our second great stay, we’ll be back!

Easy to locate, comfortable bed, and within walking distance to restaurants & entertainment!

This hotel has potential it was centrally located to downtown and in walking distance to most activities. The staff were courteous and helpful. The physical plant of the hotel looks a little tired. Carpeted hall ways were not swept and the area under the stairs was dirty. The rooms were basic they repainted the rooms to freshen it up but failed to do the easy upgrades e.g new light switch covers and outlets. The main cabinet which included the desk and refrigerator had a 6” square piece of laminate missing exposing particleboard. The bathroom was small but functional. The food at Rosies was ok but with limited options. Overall an ok experience.
