Courtyard Indianapolis West-Speedway

My wife and I recently spent two nights at the Courtyard by Marriott in Speedway, Indiana. (Northwest of Indy.) We were there to rendezvous with a college friend. We booked the room with Bonvoy points, so I can’t really comment on price. The hotel is located right off an exit of I-75 on a fairly busy highway that eventually leads to the Motor Speedway. There are many stores, fast food places, etc. in the area. I was told that the building is about five years old. The lobby is fairly spacious with several areas for seating and socializing. Breakfast was an extra charge and was served in a dedicated area in the lobby. Check-in was friendly and efficient. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and rooms. Our room was average-sized and had a contemporary decor. The most notable feature was a funky crooked cabinet. (See pic.) Inside was a microwave and dorm-sized refrigerator; a coffee station was next to it. Other furniture included a spacious crescent shaped sofa, ottoman, pole lamp and u-shaped sofa table. Along the wall was a large-screen TV, rolling desk, ergonomic desk chair and credenza with two small drawers. We opted for a king-size bed, which came with four feather pillows. Instead of a headboard, there were two foam bolsters. Flanking the bed were two small nightstands, each with a sconce-type light and electric outlets/USB ports. The bed was pretty soft, but comfortable. TIP: The room included blackout curtains, but worth mentioning is what I assume was the fire alarm, located right above the bed. It had a strobe-type light that went off periodically. Not blindingly so, but noticeable enough in a darkened room if you would be sensitive to that sort of thing. A smallish closet was tucked in the wall. It contained an iron and ironing board. And extra bedding. No sign of an in-room safe. The bathroom continued with the contemporary decor and was generously-sized. There was lots of counter space, which had room for a separate makeup mirror. Generic toiletries were on the counter. But the stand-out of the room was the large walk-in shower. (See pic.) The controls were right when you walked in, so no fear of getting drenched with cold water as you adjusted the temperature. My wife appreciated the mini shelf and lower ledge for shaving legs. Bottles of body wash, shampoo and conditioner by 39° NORTH were mounted on the wall. Water pressure and temperature were fine. The AC in the HVAC system worked fine. There is a fitness center, indoor pool and business section, none of which we used. Similarly, we opted to eat breakfast outside of the hotel. TIP: The entry door has a sticker announcing that it has an automatic deadlock - apparently it engages when you close the door. But on two occasions it engaged as we were leaving the room. That is, we walked into the hall and it slid out as we were trying to close the door. It took some finagling with our key card to have it go back in before we could close the do

We had a great stay! Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and helpful! Amazing outdoor space for our travel baseball team to enjoy time socializing! My family would definitely stay here again if we are ever in the area in the future! Convenient location!

Overall, we had a great experience at this Courtyard by Marriott. It felt like a brand new hotel with comfy bed and pillows and the location can't be beat. The only complaint is that whoever designed this hotel was not very smart! There was a smoke detector right above the bed that flashed green ALL. NIGHT. LONG. We tried covering it up with towels, etc. but nothing really worked. I have never been to a hotel and experienced this! We honestly didn't really sleep that well for this reason. The walls were also SUPER thin.

I had a few challenges trying to get the right room at first, but the people at the front desk helped me out perfectly! They were super helpful, very kind and willing to go the extra mile! They all deserve a raise! This felt like the closest thing to home I’ve been at in a long time. Even the cleaning people were super friendly and outgoing. The only thing lacking was a good free cup of coffee in the morning, but paying for it was well worth it. I will be back again.

Second time we had stayed here. Very clean which is the most important factor for me. Very nice shower. I love the fact that the shower head is on one side and the faucet is on the other. The bed however was very hard. Can't say it was uncomfortable but it definitely was not a cozy bed like most Marriotts that we've stayed at. There were very loud people that kept waking us up one night. That was a bit of a bummer. Great location and a nice walking path right behind the hotel that leads to a nice Trail. We walked two hours one morning. Starbucks in the same parking lot and also a Starbucks in the lobby. A bit sluggish in the staff area, there was a point where we waited for a very long time to ask a question at the front desk but no one came out, so we went to the Starbucks counter hoping someone could assist us but no one came out there either. Woukd stay here again though, we are Marriott members and we come here to visit our friends which is only a few minute drive from this location.

The BEST people, Tony, Mark, Mia and Brian treated me excellent, like a true VIP.. from room care, to food, to services and reccomendations, these are staff you should protect at all costs! I will be back and will recommend coworkers use this location!

Nice clean hotel. Comfortable beds. Friendly people. Denny's right next door! I had absolutely no issues with this place. Seemed updated as well. Fridge and microwave in room was nice as well as the lighting in the room.

The entire staff were very accommodating. The were all friendly and eager to gain customer satisfaction. One gentlemen, in particular, at the front desk, Tony, was an obvious old-school guests services minded individual whose demeanor was classically refreshing. It's a rare pleasure to run into an entire staff where I saw not one incidence of indifference during my three night stay.

From assisting with laundry when a bball tourney had the machines tied up, to mailing my clothes I’d accidentally left! I travel a lot and haven’t received such AWESOME customer service at any hotel- including the really swanky ones!! I truly can’t say enough about the people who work there.
