Premier Inn Southend Airport

Such a disappointment. Have stayed here many times for many years. It just gets more tired. Last visit I was put in room 2, a disabled room that was quite frankly shoddy at best. I'm not disabled and if this is what is on offer for those that are its not brilliant. For me I had none of the good impressions that you see advertised and certainly not a good sleep on a standard double bed 18" off the floor. If booking I would ask whether its a standard room or better? The restaurant next door has always been good value for food and drink, if you don't want that the Tesco Extra on the doorstep is a Godsend!

Checked in expecting a warm welcome unfortunately the receptionist was rude and unhelpful. We was given our room which seemed the usual premier inn layout however the bed was uncomfortable pillows lumpy and cobwebs on the ceiling. The bath taps and plug was covered in limescale which made it look dirty paint was peeling in places all over room. We wanted to have a meal however the restaurant told us it was fully booked what was strange is that it was empty. This hotel is not the same standard as other premier inn hotels

While the staff were excellent, friendly polite and helpful, they were let down by a hotel that is quite frankly tired and dishevelled. The ceiling tiles in the corridor were sagging and hanging down and the woodwork in the corridor was in dire need of some paint. As for the room itself the woodwork for the most part was better than in the corridor in the bathroom it was shabby at best. The skirting board was down to bare wood and the door skin was peeling on the bathroom side. Now we get to the main gripe from the moment we set foot in the room and for our entire stay, despite leaving the window open to air, the room (number 7) stank of mildew. Such a shame that excellent staff are let down by a lack of funding to bring the hotel up to a decent standard. In the words of my school reports Must Do Better

When we arrived on 8th January we were met by Chloe who apologised profusely that the lift was out of order even though this was hardly her fault. She insisted on carrying our suitcase up two flights of stairs. She was extremely professional, courteous and a real credit to her company

This is one of the worst Premier inns going. The staff were all good. Presume rhe cleaners were on holiday, conwebs and a cigarette filter on the room floor. The place needs a lick of paint and then some. The bath tap dripped constantly where it met th limescale tap pillars. Breakfast was nice second morning, 1st day sausages were cold. Evening meal was very nice but limited menu. Always seemed to be foreign people hanging around outside smoking. I will do air b n b next time. All premier Inns seem to be going down hill now.

Went to the restaurant for my evening meal. As I didn’t reserve a table, I felt I was an inconvenience when asked if I had reserved a table. I was escorted at 20mph to a table the other end of the restaurant and then by the time I got to the table, the lady who escorted me said that there was a limited menu. That was no joke. I am vegetarian and the only thing on the menu I could have was a Salad. When I questioned was this correct, she said yes and apologised. I declined the food and went back to the Premiere Inn reception and asked for my meal deal money back. I spoke with the Manager and she told me that there was a national issue with all Whitbread restaurants with the supply of food. She kindly gave me a plate, so I could order a takeaway and eat in my room. Unfortunately, there was no Chinese takeaways that would be prepared to deliver to the Premiere Inn due to distance. I ended up ordering a Dominoes Pizza which took an hour to deliver. Eating at 9pm, was not my idea of eating at a reasonable time. I then decided to call Customer Services the day after to raise my disappointment. To my amazement, they wouldn’t speak with me unless I had my reservation number. I explained I was driving, but I was confident they could find me by my email address. This was declined and when I asked for a Mamager, they terminated the call. Now that’s Customer Service…NOT!
