Premier Inn Solihull South (M42)

Very warm welcome and everything as it should be. Swift service both at the hotel and Beefeater next door. Good location for motorway but it’s not in Solihull- it’s in Shirley which is a distance from Solihull itself. No problem to us though.

Nice warm welcome from staff and plenty of on-site parking available. There is a pub/restaurant next door for food (note that it is on a busy traffic junction). The room was generally of good quality, basic but comfortable enough (bed was comfortable). We were only given one towel so I had to go back down to reception to request another which was given quickly. The main problem with the room is the lack of air conditioning (which I didn't realise when I booked it). We had a room on the first floor and, although a fan was provided and the window left open with curtains drawn, the room was REALLY hot, despite it being a day when although the sun was out, was not super hot. It was a relief to step into the corridor and I struggled to keep any make-up on my face in the room (and was attending a wedding!). I'd recommend this hotel in winter but not in summer / sunny days due to the lack of air con.

The check in was quick and efficient. The room was clean and tidy. When we settled down for the evening, the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet (despite facing a major road). When we departed the following morning, the check out was quick and efficient. We encountered the cleaning staff when we departed and they were polite and helpful.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights as we were attending an event at the NEC and wanted something that was reasonably priced and not too far away. I always try to stay at Premier Inns if possible because they are always really comfortable, good value for money and you know what to expect. I was very impressed with the Solihull South hotel, particularly due to the warm welcome we received from the gentleman on reception. Our hotel room was very comfortable and had a great atmosphere. We also had lovely breakfasts at the Beefeater opposite.

Hotel is clean, secure, staff friendly and efficient and bedrooms are are clean with comfortable beds. Large easily accessible carpark is free. Breakfast in the adjacent Beefeater is excellent, whether a full English, or Continental, there's a great choice on offer. The Beefeater is looking very dated and could do with a refurbishment, but the staff are friendly and efficient even though it seems there's going to be big changes for them very soon as the whole restaurant is only going to be available to hotel guests and not the general public.

Stayed here along with a colleague while we attended a conference at a nearby location. The rooms are standard Premier Inn layouts but I think they have an issue with the air con here as rooms had all been provided with electric fans which isn’t ideal. We had breakfast both days which you have to book a time slot for which can be annoying. It seems this was nothing to do with physical capacity in the dining area as it’s very large, it just seemed to be they have very few staff. The service was very slow on the first day but better the second. We also had drinks in the bar and ate there on one night, the food was good and service ok. The issue about having to book a time also exists on an evening and despite the restaurant being half empty we only just got booked in. Fairly standard in terms of the accommodation but a bit lacking in terms of the food service.

This hotel was a great find for the price range I wanted, especially given its location close to the NEC! Clean and quiet, with the promise of that Premier Inn sleep on one of their great beds! Although advertised as having no air conditioning, upon arrival there was a freestanding fan already cooling my room - a very, very welcome addition! Staff at the hotel and restaurant were all very friendly and efficient. Literally, my only complaint was that there was no orange juice at breakfast! Although disappointing, it wouldn't stop me returning...

When travelling north it is good to find a hotel close to the motorway that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. This hotel suited well and although the car charger kept needing resetting (not fault of hotel) we coped. The manger was so friendly and welcoming and whilst the rooms are dated and with no air conditioning, at least fans were provided. We had two different rooms over two stays, each very different - one bed was comfortable whilst the other was like a stone. Good value for money, and you get what you pay for. Dinner in the Beefeater was another story, though breakfast there was good.
