Hidden Beach Resort Au Naturel Adults Only Catamarán, Cenote & More Inclusive

There are not enough positives that we can say about the staff at this incredibly friendly and special place! HBR continues to be a top-tier au natural resort with first-rate staff who remember our names (and even our favorite drinks and food choices). Favorite staff members with exemplary service include Esperanza, Aneceto, Riccardo, Anulfo, Alex, Victor, Noel, Isai, Yvette, Angel, and Marta in dining; Fernanda and Carlos of the entertainment staff; Ula, Eleasin, and Elizabet in reception and guest services; and the beach and grounds staff were all professional and kind. Pedro, Nathaniel, and David were all amazing at the bars, and the musicians—especially the daytime acoustic musicians—were all great. I would give more than 5 stars for all of those staff and entertainment people, if I could. We loved the member dinner, enjoyed all the food, and always appreciate the efforts that go into decorating and providing a beautiful experience. Our room was consistently clean and our maids were cheerful, professional, and did a great job. Thank you to Graciela and Antonia! We loved volleyball, water aerobics, trivia and crafts, tequila tasting, salsa-making, the variety of bar options and cocktails, and the comfort of the beach palapas. However, there are some concerns that are worthy of a 3 star review. First of all, who made the terrible decision to change David and Pedro’s bar positions? Everyone knows that Pedro in the pool bar during the afternoons/evenings, and David in the Moonlight at night, are the perfect places for those two. They are both wonderful bartenders who were in their natural elements previously. They are doing a great job in their current positions but the guests are not happy, and I spoke with several guests who were equally unhappy with this decision as we were. Please change Pedro back to the pool, and David to the Moonlight, ASAP. The pool-facing side of the El Dorado building is a huge eyesore. Every year it gets worse and this year it looks like some repairs may be in process, but no progress was made while we were there. It looks like the building is falling apart. Several other resort areas need basic maintenance. For example, the men’s room bathroom door handle was loose, the foam party machine was broken for 2 weeks in a row, the rooms are getting increasingly dated, and the gym equipment is needing repair and updating. My husband got a metal splinter in his hand from one of the free weights because the finish is peeling off the handle. It seems to us that management can do a better job of making some basic improvements. As an additional note, we enjoyed the music of Goliath and the Tenors, but the volume is much too loud during dinner time. The band in the Moonlight was also great, but it was so loud we couldn’t stand it and had to leave—and very few guests were left in the Moonlight because it was too loud. Revisited this resort over 50 times, we are club members for the El Dorado resorts. The resort is really showing age and needs a facelift. The rooms need new furniture and better lighting. The water pressure comes and goes as does the hot water. The bed is comfy and the swim up is perfect for us. We enjoy the dining options and appreciate the menu changes daily for dinner to accommodate, reducing the need to go off property for dinner at the other restaurants, although if we want to go off, we can go to any restaurant on the three properties. Alma Alejandra Cen Dzib has made an amazing difference in the service and the food since coming to this resort. Both the day and night servers are excellent, Angel Duran, Noel, Arnulfo, Aniceto, Genesia, Gualdino, and Ricardo Are all 5 🌟star!! And I can’t leave out the top-notch bar service!! Pedro, Nathan and Esperanza you are the best!! The hotel Entertainment staff (Mike) needs to be revisited. The person in charge doesn’t really seem to understand the crowd and has made a lot of changes in the entertainment over the past few years. There are some amazing bands that should be playing in an area for us to dance and enjoy, but they are much too loud to listen to during dinner, e.g. the Cherry Lovers, everyone enjoys them but they are a dance band!! Not a dinner band. We love the gentleman that plays the guitar and that country/pop music. He would be excellent at dinner but he only plays at the poolside during the day. The Tenors are constantly changing singers and are very hit and miss for skill. And finally the best singer on any property on the Riviera Maya is Dana Kennedy and she is now gone! WTH? She can entertain at dinner perfectly or play in the bar and always gets everyone up dancing. She is absolutely AMAZING! Dana was the only successful entertainer for the New Year’s Eve party. The first performers were OK for socializing then Dana came and got everybody up and wild and dancing just as we should’ve been and then she was followed by some bizarre mime-like audiovisual show that was an absolute uninteresting downer while gearing up for midnight. Things have never been as good as when Aldo UG was in charge, and then Fernando followed and did well too. Now, not so much. The Pool entertainment staff is awesome. Thank you Fernanda and Carlos! You do a magnificent job with a wild crowd.

We are members and visit this resort yearly. We always have a great time with friendly guests and great staff. All of the waiters are amazing. Bartenders fantastic. Esperanza gives the best bar service ever. Ula and Eleasin are wonderful , can't ssy enough good things about them. Place is immaculate. Volleyball is great fun and the activities directors are doing a great job of curbing aggressive play and keeping the games fun and friendly. I like that chairs are ready with umbrellas set up before 6am daily. That's the 3 stars. There Thanksgiving dinner which we have attended for years went downhill big time. Instead of a fresh carved turkey and cranberries, gravy, and sweet potatoes at the buffet, we were told if we wanted turkey , they would bring it. We got this dry turkey breast rolled with cranberries and a couple of squirts of sweet potatoes. I eat only the dark meat, but we all agreed this was gross. We made our feelings clear to the chef and hoping they will improve next year. Then the rooms. They are big enough ,but need help. Basically, they are dark with very little lighting. Even with every light on, its just dark. The beds are very comfortable but they changed the pillows to the giant things that nobody liked and the duvets weighed a ton. We removed them and just used sheets. Everyone was complaining about how heavy they were. Then the plumbing. Many complaining of low pressure in shower. Our toilet worked so poorly we got our room changed. Others had similar issues ,sometimes flushing , sometimes not. They recently replaced all the doors and locks. They are nice but nobody cares about that. The old doors were fine. Guests want comfortable bedding , good lighting , and plumbing that works properly. So for all of that , I took away 2 stars from my usual 5. The restaurant has good food, very accomodating to special diets. I would not recommend any of the off-site restaurants. The service was poor and food as well.

I'm upset because the place is run down and looking ragged and run down. The staff is still wonderful. Ula is amazing and so is Eleasin. Our housekeeper, Ricardo are constant server, everyone, I can't mention every single person but every single staff is wonderful. My main concern is the no smoking in the outside air because Mexico thinks they own the air. You really need to put a small smoking area at the pool. It's not fair to cater only to non-smokers. Put a four chair or six chair area in the back against the wall and make it a smoking area. The smoking area you have is a joke, and if you don't know what's there, you don't know it exists. I'm a nonsmoker but this is for the smokers who came and specially for the one couple who was basically stuck on their patio smoking because no one would complain there. Management, please put a small smoking area at the pool. Also, I hope she gets her money that Karisma stole. It's not fair that the prices are so high and the guests are being punished with unaffordable prices because they stole money to do the repairs and upgrades.

What a great place! The staff is fantastic! All of the staff! The food is outstanding, the entertainment is good and the actual activities are so fun! They have 2 dedicated people for activities … aqua aerobics, trivia, cards, bingo and the famous volleyball! Carlos & Fernanda are so fun! They are very personable!
