The bed bugs ruined everything and the way we were treated by the Co-owner/Mgr (who stays at the motel) was maybe worse. Me and my fiance stayed for 3 nights, after the first night I was itching between my toes and didn't think much of it and didn't anything to anyone and didn't even bother to look at my foot as I thought it was maybe a mosquito bite but after the 2nd night in the morning, my fiance had bumps on her body and my bite was becoming like an open wound. She is a doctor and said I was not bitten by a mosquito as I was never barefoot and she thought for sure they were bed bugs as she never has any sort of bumps on her body and the only time she did was when she was bitten by these bugs, she said they will slowly but surely show up over time. We asked for another room which they did give us. As the day progressed, they became painful for her and upon check out, we asked for a refund. The owner who had just woken up said they need to "investigate" the matter and insinuated the pest control company would reimburse us if we find anything. I showed him the photos that I took but it didn't matter. I told him we do not have contract with his exterminator but with him, they would need to provide him free service or compensate him somehow but we are renting from HIM, his motel and we are looking for compensation from him. He refused and even said we may have brought the bugs with us! I told him we just moved into a brand new home, newly built and was on vacation for the holiday and that was insulting. I complained to the main customer service line and all they did was give me points (again, which I did not ask for and why would I even consider staying at any Choice Hotels after being treated like this!...And Corporate said they cannot refund us, it's up to that location!!) To make matters worse they signed me up for some great deal I guess to try to be nice and charged me and didn't tell me it was a timeshare spiel I had to listen to! I called back and cancelled once I read the email, another waste of time. The motel mgr did call that night on the way home and gave us points (which I did not ask for) but refused to refund us or any part of our payment. I called him again since I did not hear from him and he stated the exterminator just left and they did not find or anything moving....I reminded him bed bugs for the most part are microscopic and you cannot see them, they hide, have times of the day they come out, go through outlets, into walls. He said I could call his pest control co. myself...so of course I did! They told me they treated the room and though this is true they did not see anything moving, doesn't mean they aren't there and don't exist. They hide when the room is being treated, agree they are very small. And get this, they said THIS MOTEL HAS BEEN TREATED MANY TIMES BEFORE AND SHE DID NOT REALLY LIKE THE WAY THE MGR HANDLES OR RESPONDS TO THESE INCIDENTS!!
