Econo Lodge

We arrived late in the evening and was greeted by the night reception. There are many ample parking and we entered from the back of the hotel. The hotel is huge and fronting a river. Our room is facing the river and we discovered an amazing view from the balcony of our room. Although the hotel is outdated but it is clean and comfortable. The hotel location is a good 40min drive south of Ottawa Premium outlet and a good stop over for Toronto destination.

The hotel was hard to find. No cold water. Had trouble unlocking our door. The frame was bent. Went for ice and the ice machine was broken. Went to buy pop and the vending machine was broken.The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were not.

Great price, great location, great view from balcony: this is the sort of place I would likely come back to, indeed,and recommend.

Property was fine, but the water didn’t work in the morning prior to checkout. We were unable to shower and had to use bottled water to brush teeth before leaving.

The room was clean and comfortable and well supplied, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The outside of the building (overlooking the river) looks run down, but the inside is clean and convenient.

Location was great. Staff were super. Room did smell of stale cigarette smoke unfortunately.

In its heyday, I can see that the EconoLodge would have been the place to stay. On the banks of the Rideau Canal, patrons would have had a beautiful view in the summer months from their balconies as the boats passed. To their credit, the property managers have done some work to keep the lobby and rooms themselves somewhat updated, but there are a number of areas for improvement. If you are not able to look past outward appearances this is not the place for you. However, our short stay was not about this, but convenience. And from that aspect it met our needs. The room itself was clean. It had everything one would expect for a simple overnight stay. The beds and pillows were comfortable, linens clean, and the room was quiet. In morning, we were pleased to find a breakfast area, well-stocked with what you would want for a quick breakfast to go. An unexpected bonus for us. While I don’t expect we will have the occasion to stay in the area again, I can say that for travelers in the area looking only for the basics, this will fit the bill.

I loved how I was able to bring my fur baby :) and the balcony is awesome to have as well!
