KB Ammos

This was our third stay at KB Ammos and our sixth stay within the KBR group. Although some of the faces have changed within the staff, what hasn’t changed is the enthusiasm and commitment from the staff to ensure that your holiday experience is a good one. The team are young but manage the hotel effortlessly, from the admin and admissions through to breakfast and pool bar. Reception staff are efficient and are ready to help with any query from fresh towels to advice on places to eat on the island. The rooms are modern with a Queen size bed, digital safe, air conditioning and a good powerful shower with almost instantaneous hot water (Something that can be an issue in some hotels). The Breakfast room is airy with views across the road to Megali Ammos beach which is literally a 5 minute walk away. Breakfast boasts an extensive range of fruits, salads, honeys and preserves as well as fried foods. Omelettes are available on request with a variety of fillings. The pool area is complemented with a pool bar offering bar snacks and playing soft chill out music in the background that goes some way to create the relaxed vibe. The hotel is situated approx. 15 minutes walk from Skiathos town and 3 minutes from the nearest supermarket. Nearby is also a car and bike rental office so everything is close at hand. Highly recommend this. Short 10/15 walk into town. Brilliant facilities. Breakfast choice was great and too much choice - if there is such a thing. Immaculately clean. Fresh clean towels daily. Poolside towels changed daily too. Bar meals delicious and good value. By far the best part was the staff who could not do enough for you. A special thanks to Nikos the barman for the amazing Mai Tai cocktails - even better value during happy hour 4pm to 8pm. Small improvements would be a kettle in your room and more reliable wifi as kept disconnecting. Thank you to the whole team for amazing and special stay!

In a nutshell, faultless! This hotel was perfect for our stay. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, nothing was enough for ALL of the staff here who went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing and enjoyable. A special thanks to Eleni on reception who helped us to organise hiring a quad bike and even a replacement suitcase after mine was broken on the flight! She was attentive to everything we required at the hotel and she truly went the extra mile to make our stay special and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were spacious, clean and well equipped. We also opted to have our own plunge pool which was an added bonus to have on top of the communal pool area. Sunbeds were available the entire time with no issues and fresh towels were provided daily with your pool card. Rooms were cleaned daily including the balcony around the plunge pool. Breakfast was served between 8:00-11:00 and there was so much choice! Fresh omelettes were also offered on top of the varied buffet selection. The hotel is located in a perfect location for exploring the island: just a 10 minute walk into the vibrant Skiathos Town and minutes walk away from the beautiful Megali Ammos beach opposite where there are beach front tavernas, water sports and sun beds to hire for approximately €10. If you fancy exploring the rest of the island there is a bus that runs along the main road on the south of the island from Skiathos Town (bus stop 1) to Koukounaries beach (bus stop 26). The hotel is located at bus stop 5 and tickets are €3 one way. You have to take a short walk (5 mins max) from the hotel to bus stop 4 to purchase your tickets as bus stop 5 doesn’t have a kiosk. Depending on what time you travel, the buses can get very full! Try the boat trips and visit Lalaria beach, hire a quad bike to explore the north of the island or simply wander along to the old port in Skiathos town for fantastic cocktails and food! The hotel is a perfect location for exploring Skiathos and we would be back again in a heart beat to this exact hotel in the future!

Really hate to single people out, but the lady who checked us in really made us feel unwelcome and was the polar opposite of Greek hospitality that we're used to. Having seen the pool area busy I could totally understand my daughter visiting the hotel would be an issue as there were not enough beds for guests and not once did we abuse this. When she came to visit at breakfast time (in order to meet for a day trip) there was a call from said employee to the breakfast staff that made us all feel really awkward as all three staff were made aware of her presence. She seemed to be looking to assert her position 🤔. Nikolas at the pool bar was fantastic, as were the girls at breakfast. The hotel itself was really good in every aspect sadly let down by one person. Sister Hotel Kassandra Bay seemed so much more professional when we visited 6 weeks ago.

On arrival we were met by a lovely pleasant polite guy named George, offered the usual complimentary arrival drink which we had at the small but ample pool bar served by the lovely young guy Nikolas who was lovely throughout our 10 night stay and a credit to himself / hotel and his parents. Frstly the room ( 203 ), lovely upperfloor room with large balcony, inside whirlpool bath and large bathroom, the positives are plenty of space. comfy mattress , plenty of wardrobe space. negatives are no mirror behind the dressing area, the bathroom wasn't as clean as it could of been I actually cleaned the shower head of limescale so it worked properly. the balcony wasn't cleaned during our stay and the deck chairs were badly stained also the whirlpool bath was badly installed as in the silicone was very roughly done maybe with a catapult ? maybe change deckchairs on balcony for sunbeds incase none available around pool. moving onto the hotel itself... breakfast poor for the standard of hotel and the pool area required a good clean of both the pool and surrounding run off plastic grates... little attention to detail of the simple things ! bins often full. glass not cleaned, pool patio area needs a good scrub including the sunbeds which have brown suntan lotion stains on the bottom.. Once done this hotel maybe worthy of a 4 star not the 4 star plus it carries at the moment. when things requested to be done out of there normal routine the management particularly the auburn haired girl on front desk was quite abrupt and challenging at times. on our last day the pool area grates were being jet washed clean once they had been identified to them... but done whilst guests were trying to relax.... not the best timing ! why should a guest have to bring things to their attention? poor management ! lastly every guest we met were lovely and all agreed on the above. we offered a lovely couple Brian & Rachel who had a late flight home to use our room facilities as there is no courtesy room ? just the pool shower really not adequate for a 4 star plus hotel and also with the boiling hot skiathos weather there is nowhere to take shade while waiting for late flights, Brian commented on the bathroom being the size of their room (113) avoid !!!! ( this room you couldn't swing a skiathos cat in !!! ) this hotel has so much potential if they sort the simple things.

On arrival we were shown to our room 113 . We were very disappointed at the size of the room .. small . When I asked George about changing rooms he said . Rooms allocated on arrival.. but I had emailed requesting a room with a sun terrace if possible. Told we can't move you . Things got worse when my wife tried to have a shower the water was FREEZING COLD .same for me. I told the girl on reception who came and had a look . Only to say I'll mention it to George in the morning.. in the morning I told George about the cold water. He came to our room and said oh you have to run the hot water in the basin first so it becomes hot in the shower. Supposed to be 4 Star plus hotel.. Breakfast was just average. House keeping well .. can only be described has builders cleaning didn't move a bin or chair to mop the floor . Water stain on mirror. Front door full of hand prints from us and other guests patio area never moped in 10 days .. plunge pool cleaned once in 10 days . Main pool only cleaned once .. grid around pool never cleaned. . . . Not enough sun bed . There are some positive points to the hotel. The location is fantastic. Young lad behind the bar very good. Clean towels in room and around the pool .. Best thing about hotel was the lovey guest who we met . Special mention to lee and nicola who made us laugh every day. And were kind enough to let us use there room for a shower before returning home . Due to no curtesy room . Overall disappointed with hotel. Not VFM .
