The hotel is located at a very convenient location, about 10 minutes walk from Chinatown MRT station and 5 minutes bus ride to the Tanjong Pagar, my favorite area for some of the best restaurants in Singapore.
The front desk staff was very friendly and responsive and check in was fast and hassle-free. I will not hesitate to give a 5 star for the service.
The room size is not big but comfortable. The TV in our room has no signal, but we don’t watch tv that much. So this is not a big issue. The sound proofing of the room is excellent, one thing that I always emphasize when selecting a hotel. Both my wife and I had a very satisfying sleep. Another 5 star here.
The room we stayed was a regular room, which has a very interesting, half-open concept bathroom design. The vanity and closet are in the same half open space while the shower and toilet are in two separate glass cubicles. The heavy glass door was a little challenging to handle sometimes. The swimming pool looked really nice, though we didn’t have time to enjoy it.
The breakfast is mostly western style with a little local touch. The selection is limited but you will find what you usually look for at a hotel breakfast. The service was ok, but we did have a problem at the reception. Our room did not include breakfast, so I purchased breakfast for two upon checking in. However, we were told by the receptionist that our room is not in the breakfast list. I have to run back to the front desk and confirmed the purchase while my wife was waiting outside the restaurant. After the matter was settled, we started with the egg section. For some reason, the staff in charge told us to start with other food since that was an Egg Station. I explained to her that I wanted a omelette. She then reluctantly asked what I wanted for the omelette and told me to come back in five minutes. A few minutes later, she approached our table and asked again what did I want for the omelette. There was also an issue with the coffee machine. There are coffee machines, but one was not working. As I was getting my coffee from one machine, I saw a staff was cleaning the other functioning machine. A waiting line was quickly formed after me. Usually, the manager would step in and help the guests in any of the above situations. Unfortunately this is not the case.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Park Regis and would still recommend it to anyone.
