This is a very nice hotel with one of the nicest pool areas of any hotel I’ve stayed at. The grounds are extremely well kept, and the whole hotel feels very secluded and relaxing. The food on the breakfast a la carte menu was good. If staying in the hotel cost 60% of the actual price I would give it a 4 or 5 star rating. However, given the prices they charge, they have to deliver to a higher standard and unfortunately they don’t. The air conditioning appears to be centrally controlled, presumably as a cost saving measure, meaning that the thermostat in the room does not actually control the temperature. On the first night, it was far too warm and I contacted reception, and after some hassle, I was told they would have someone take a look the next day. No offer of an alternative room was made and that was the last I heard from them about the issue. The temperature did improve the next day, but the thermostat still clearly didn’t control the temperature and the air conditioning temperature varied and at times was too warm. For a five star hotel charging these prices, this isn’t acceptable. The drink and food prices are frankly eye watering and way beyond anything I saw anywhere in Greece on a two week trip. An iced coffee and bottle of coke cost nearly 12 euro. A bottle of beer cost 9 euro. That same beer was available for 4 euro in one of the local tavernas, perhaps 100 metres from the hotel. The price went beyond “premium hotel pricing” and felt gratuitous. The service in general was below average, compared to other, cheaper, hotels I stayed in on the trip. Overall, a really nice hotel, and an enjoyable stay. But not even close to worth the money.
