Dontrei Villa is a peaceful place to stay if you want to spend few days surrounded by nature and friendly people. Have been for an anniversary celebration and got an upgrade to a suite bungalow with private swimming pool..what a beautiful surprise! The staff is very kind and friendly, always ready to sort any issue out very quickly. The owner/manager is a lovely lady that has designed this place with lot of love!Wow! The main swimming pool is incredible and surrounded by beautiful plants and trees.. The location is a bit outside of the city but it's worth it to spend some time in a tuktuk and enjoy the outskirts. Definitely recommended!

It’s the more similar to paradise. The people who work there are very attentive. We were at a bungalow, with all kind of special things. The bed very confortable. Very easy to contact to tuc tuc or drivers. Breakfast and meals very well done, really a good experience.

A hotel located on the outskirts of Siem Reap, about a 20-minute scooter ride to Angkor Wat. The rooms are fairly large and clean, but after sunset, they become very dark. The lighting is extremely poor (I struggled to find anything in my suitcase). The wooden walls make it easy to hear all surrounding noises. This wouldn’t be such a big problem if not for the loud music from the restaurant, which starts at 6 AM and plays until late in the evening. I had to ask them to turn it down because it was impossible to sleep. The music is played by a staff member who dances with a glass of wine as late as 11 PM. At the end of our stay, we were asked to pay $3 for a broken glass. When we said that’s not a normal price, the staff member laughed and insisted it was. But when we said we wouldn’t pay more than $1, he quickly agreed for that price, which proves the glass was not worth the price claimed originally. We never got any receipt for the glass payment. The price for scooter rental at the hotel is over 50% higher than in the city.

I am on my last day and still here. This place is absolutely beautiful. You can see the love and design that has gone into making the villas maintain a traditional feel. Exactly what I wanted for my 4 day trip to Siem Reap from Hanoi. Some R&R! We are staying in the 2bed, private pool villa. The villas are not in a vast space but this just adds to its appeal. Met with the owner and designer last night. She was telling us about the ongoing plans and showing us around and the pictures of the original buildings that were transported here and rebuilt. Such a lovely lady, who you can see very much enjoys the planning and growth of such an amazing place! There isn’t much around so I would advise to stock up on water as it is very humid. Although it is only around $3-$10 in a tuk tuk to get about dependent on where you want to go. The driver will wait for you and stop wherever you want. I wish I could stay longer but my flight is already booked! I’m checking out flights from the UK to Siem Reap for next year already and would most definitely stay here again! Thank you to all at the villa

This hotel is around 25 min away from the center of Siem Reap, by Tuk Tuk, and is not closer to the temples. It is actually in an rural area (next to one side of the cottages there is a muddy area). It is presented as a quiet location, but because of the poor isolation (lack of windows in the bathroom, poor quality-not fully closing windows in the room) it is not so quiet. The cottages were build following local standards, and appear quite run down, as they get older. The pretended peaceful - escape little resort is overruled by the rural environment, poor quality interior of the rooms and the distance to the city. The staff is nice, and helpful. Overall this venue is not worth the money, for us it did not present any advantages to other venue in the city, but quite a few disadvantages. The price charged is similar to the price charged in Europe for a good 2 stars -3 stars hotel, but the quality is not on pair.

The bungalows here are really serene. There is no danger of being kept awake all night by a karaoke bar! (This has happened to me several times in Cambodia!) Waking up to the birds and a beautiful breeze blowing through makes breakfast under the terrace an absolute pleasure. The staff are helpful and I have rented a motorbike since I like to be more independent and not have a tuk-tuk driver waiting around for me;-) I have had several meals at the restaurant and all were good to very good - the mango salad with fish paste was excellent. This is the perfect place to chill and relax after exploring Siem Riep all day...15 minutes with motor scooter to town.

Absolute heaven away from the hustle and bustle but still handy to the Angkor Wat temples. Dontrei Villas represents excellent value for money. The rooms are wonderful with a beautiful boat-like bath for added romance. Everything you need is provided. The on-site restaurant serves fresh and delicious food, both Western and Khmer. The resort facilities are heaven. The amazing pool is a welcome relief after a day at the temples. are rubber tubes and life jackets if desired. The setting, the rooms and the delightful host and her family made our stay at Dontrei Villas a highlight of our Cambodian holiday.

Absolutely horrible experience. Getting here is a torture itself. Because it’s on an unnamed road which doesn’t show on Google maps. We were stuck in the middle of some fields at night and couldn’t get to the hotel. I had booked a private pool suite. Upon arriving I see that the pool is dirty. There’s a cockroach in the bathroom. A hole in the bedroom wall stuffed with a tissue. Dirty flip flops left in the cupboard. It’s hard to explain things to the staff because they don’t understand English. Food is below average. I had booked it for three nights but really needed to get out of here. And secondly they should really give their guests a complimentary shuttle service to the city centre because it’s so far off!

We travel a lot. This food is quite exceptional. Simply great home cooking - fantastic flavours and as good as restaurant in Siem Reap. We stayed st Dontrei Villa for 10 days due to visa problems to Vietnam and did eat out, following advise from Trip Advisor reviews. This is as good as any place in this area. Do not expect fast food. Sit back , enjoy a drink and soak in the environment. The sounds of roosters, cattle, birds. And savour the food. Great Khmer cooking at a fair price. A hidden gem for serious travellers
