The Victoria Hotel & Source Spa

We had previously stayed here for five days back in 2022 and always said we'd come back. To celebrate my husband's special birthday, I booked a week as a surprise. Sadly, the surprise was broken when a member of staff phoned my husband's mobile a month before our stay. They knew it was a surprise and the file, apparently, had been marked with all correspondence via email to me! We arrived to the same Victoria Suite we had last time. I had asked and paid for balloons and a bottle of champagne on arrival and they were there waiting for us. Sadly again, there was no acknowledgement from the hotel about my husband's birthday which I found very disappointing. The suite was beautiful and a godsend as the weather was very mixed and we had a great place to relax. Food is very good but after six nights of sliced meats in different sauces served with a selection of vegetables or salad, we were craving something different and went à la Carte on our last night. This added another £68 to the bill on top of our DBB tariff, which I think was excessive. The staff were wonderful. It's a good old fashioned hotel. They stated jacket and tie preferred for dinner but people were in there in short sleeved shirts! Overall we had a good holiday but felt let down by a ruined surprise and no acknowledgment of my husband's special birthday.

Spent a wonderful weekend at the Victoria Hotel. Experienced the new Spa, that offers excellent facilities for a Spa Hotel. Staff are friendly and attentive and the food excellent.

Stayed for 2 nights and it was stunning. Old English charm and the staff were amazing. The hotel appealed to us as there was peace and quiet in a tranquil setting. We’ve been coming to Sidmouth for years from accommodation in nearby Charmouth but chose to stay in Sidmouth this time around. The pool was closed for refurbishment but that didn’t affect our stay. I love this seaside town for a short relaxing break, the hotel did just that as it was so quiet and peaceful. Easy to walk to town and the beach. Would highly recommend. Felt totally refreshed afterwards.

A great stay at a relaxing family friendly hotel with no pets allowed. The new spa facilities were open and a great assest to The Victoria. Staff always go the extra mile to help make your stay great.

Stayed 4 nights our first time here. Been coming to Devon for decades. Can’t fault anything and the indoor and outdoor pool areas are top class. Hope to be back one day.

First class old fashioned service and style combined with a stunning new spa and leisure area made our fist visit to charming Sidmouth memorable and we have returned to real life feeling thoroughly spoilt and revitalised. Our luxurious bedroom was generously sized, spotlessly clean and enjoyed a stunning sea view. The staff were all charming and professional and we loved the pianist who accompanied our delicious dinner. Already planning our next visit, as there are so many things to do in the local area that we couldn't fit into this visit!

We always enjoy our stays at the Victoria and this last one was no exception. Sometimes we come alone and drive, sometime with friends and sometimes e bring a coach with 40/50 people. This last visit we brought friends by car. It's an excellent hotel and we would recommend it BUT we had a problem parking the car every time we returned after a day trip. Without the concierge to help it would have been impossible.so we spend a few unexpected pounds in gratuities just to get the car parked.. Dining room service let them down one evening on Monday 3 June when we were almost first in and last out of the restaurant not of our choosing having sat around waiting for service which was most unusual for a Brend hotel. We also had a very rude waiter serving us coffee Wednesday evening 5th June when we asked for some cold milk with our coffee and were tole that we should have ordered it when we first saw the young waiter instead of when he brought the coffee. Apparently he had to make an extra journey for the milk and this seemed to be a problem for him.so we were told off for our mistake. We found that unpleasant and not what we expect at a Brend Hotel. The rooms are excellent as always but on the front of the hotel can be a little warm throughout the night if there has been a sunny day. We don't leave the door or window open at night because of a connecting balcony. Overall a very nice hotel marred by the above problems. We are group organisers and are due to return with a coach full of 50 friends in September so we will not have a car but we would think carefully about alternatives before bringing the car again in mid season..

Another delicious meal en route to our family further west. You are always made to feel so welcome and special at this hotel and the service is excellent. Good views, comfortable seating and we just enjoy the time we spend at The Victoria Hotel.

So happy we booked this hotel. It’s exactly as we imagined. If you’re visiting Sidmouth, don’t hesitate, book!
