Best Western Sheridan Center

I have to separate my view of the room from the hotel overall since the hotel is nice, but the room was not. THE HOTEL: The lobby is attractive and the breakfast served in the morning is pretty complete and has lots of room for the guests. There is a nice pool, but we didn't use it. It's location at the edge of the downtown makes it very convenient to go walking in this pretty town. One of the other patrons commented that the staff had been very helpful when he had a problem. THE ROOM: While this place got good reviews, I am having a hard time imagining why. It is desperately in need of renovation. It is an older hotel and the rooms are small compared to most Best Westerns we stayed at. It has a number of quirks... The lobby and the breakfast room are across from the rooms over an elevated crosswalk that has no circulation so it was probably 125 degrees in there. The first thing they told us was that they don't have housekeeping services so if you need anything, just go over to the office (across the street). The bed is OK and they offer lots of pillows. There is no desk and electrical outlets are very limited. The ones on the front of the lamps are effectively non-functioning since the connections are so loose that you have to prop up the plug or it will slide out of the socket. (We both need O2 units at night so outlets are a must.) The bed is OK, but is a bit too soft so it dumps you if you get to close to the edge. The pillows are nice. It is old and had a topper put on it to help flatten it out The shower / tub combination has been painted on the bottom of the tub. There were baseboard heat units that have been partially stripped off the wall. They have a coffee pot and a refrigerator, but the microwave is down in the laundry room at the far end of the building. The internet is slow. This is an older hotel. No elevator, not sure is that is due to remodeling , or it just doesn’t exist. Kind of difficult dragging large suitcase up the stairs, and through doors at odd placements. Room was large, and bed comfy, although everything is outdated. It seemed clean.Our air conditioner unit was very loud, and rattled when it was on. No hand soap or shampoo provided. Convenient because of restaurants, etc. within easy walking distance. Quaint town. Breakfast was great.

Didn’t like the first room given by the indoor pool. It was dark and a lot of noise from the pool. The desk clerk was great and gave us another room which was a typical best western room. The breakfast was better than average, although I would replace the pancake device with the typical waffle machine

Room had food in the refrigerator. No housekeeping service. Didn’t deliver towels and waited an hour to get some sent over.

Was a good room , everything was fine until breakfast!! Couple ladies that were supposed to be prepping breakfast were sitting by the fireplace , then chit-chatting with the clerk ... In the meanwhile , batter was out in the pancake maker , cranberry juice ran out mid-cup , I tried to get a cup of coffee for the trip , Fancy Coffee Machine came up , out of grounds .... P'ed me the heck off , Why don't people do their jobs instead of chatting about how their feet hurt!

This was not our favourite hotel. The hotel is situated on both sides of the main street. The is a sky bridge but it doesn’t make it anymore convenient. The staff seemed not as friendly as elsewhere and demanded to seem our membership card before awarding us points, even though we made our reservations on line. Our room was generous but it lacked windows. The property had a pool but no hot tub.
