I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming homestay in Shaoxing that truly felt like a sanctuary for the soul. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning traditional architecture that seamlessly blended with the local culture. Each corner of the property exuded warmth and character, making it a perfect backdrop for introspection and creativity.
Despite the rain during my stay, it only enhanced the experience. The open courtyard design allowed me to immerse myself in the soothing sounds of raindrops while I reflected on my thoughts and future plans. There’s something incredibly calming about watching the rain dance against the tiled roof, and I found it to be the perfect setting for writing and contemplation.
After a peaceful day, I ventured out to the nearby old street for dinner and drinks. The vibrant atmosphere, with its charming shops and lively eateries, made for a delightful evening. I enjoyed exploring the local cuisine, which was a wonderful complement to my stay.
The homestay offered remarkable value for money, combining comfort with an authentic cultural experience. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring that all my needs were met while allowing me the space to find my own rhythm.
If you’re looking for a place to clear your mind and connect with your inner self, I cannot recommend this homestay enough. It’s a true haven where traditional beauty meets modern-day tranquility. I left feeling refreshed and inspired—exactly what I had hoped for.

The pillows were the best I've had in a while. Very happy stay. I had breakfast included but managed to miss it everyday of my stay so can't comment on that. GGerriLovely hotel located next to most popular old town street, Cangqiao Street. Also back of hotel is the labyrinth of lovely old waterways. It is set back from main street thru a narrow lane that car cannot access. However is a short lane where you can walk in easily. Or you can call up hotel to pick you up in their golf cart infront of Kong Yi Ji Restuarant on Cangqiao Street (only 5mins away).
Breakfast spread is sufficient and delicious.
Love my hotel room which is large with modern gadgets.
I like to thank this hotel's front desk staff (sorry didnt get her name) who helped me in her off duty time at the side of the hot main street trying to solve my prebooked taxi to Ningbo. The didi rid hailing driver somehow went to wrong pickup address and refuse to budge which eventually i have to cancel it. This wonderful young lady used her mobile app to book my ride cos my app just can't work anymore.
A note on the didi linked to Alipay or wechat, very frustrating experience for a foreigner. It will work fine initially then later keep asking for a new credit card input to proceed. Does not work with the new credit card too. Do setup other rid hailing app. besides didi.
My Ningbo taxi driver said to call this taxi phone no. 95128 in china (standard no. used in whole of china) to get a taxi, but i have yet to try it out.

Ho avuto un fantastico soggiorno all'Hotel ShaoXing Keqiao Atour. L'hotel era improvvisamente pulito, con camere ben mantenute e aree comuni che mi hanno reso molto comodo il soggiorno. Le strutture lavanderia erano eccellenti, che è un enorme plus per i viaggiatori di business. Il personale era incredibilmente utile e amichevole, sempre pronto a aiutare con qualsiasi bisogno. Mi sono particolarmente gradito il caffè complimentare e bevande benvenute, che hanno aggiunto un caldo toccamento all'ospitalità.
La posizione dell'hotel è molto conveniente, a soli 15 minuti dalla stazione ferroviaria ShaoXing Nord, rendendo facile il viaggio. Keqiao è famoso per la sua industria tessile e dell'abbigliamento, attraente molti imprenditori dall'India. L'hotel è anche vicino a buoni ristoranti indiani, Saffron e Kashish, che sono a soli 2 km, offrendo un gusto di casa per gli ospiti indiani.

NNayemThis hotel is one of my top choices in Shaoxing. The property is nearly brand new, and my wife and I stayed here for three nights during a business trip. It was a wonderful experience, and here’s our detailed review:
We stayed on the 51st executive floor, specifically in room 5128, which offered a stunning lake view and an impressively spacious layout. The room featured a proper bathtub, his-and-hers sinks, and a separate section for the shower and toilet, divided by transparent glass partitions. However, the lack of privacy in this setup could be uncomfortable if you’re sharing the room with a colleague or business associate. Since I was traveling with my wife, this wasn’t an issue for us.
Service: 9/10
Although most of the staff didn’t speak or understand English, they made a genuine effort to ensure guests were happy. Language barriers in China are common, but using a translator app helped us navigate communication seamlessly. Night shift front desk manager Lynn was very helpful and spoke English properly. She also recommended

The housekeeping team was highly attentive and thorough, keeping the room spotless throughout our stay.
Breakfast: 9/10
Breakfast was served at the Manhattan Restaurant on the 45th floor, offering stunning views. The buffet featured a great mix of Western and Oriental dishes, including a wide variety of cheeses, croissants, a self-serve ground coffee machine, fresh fruits, and a selection of dumplings.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from Shaoxing North Railway Station, which was convenient for us. However, the immediate surroundings don’t offer much— the nearest convenience store is about a 8-10 minute walk. We used DiDi for all our trips, so this wasn’t a major issue. For shopping or dining, Wanda Plaza Mall is about 12 minutes away by car, offering a variety of restaurants, including McDonald’s, KFC, and Starbucks. We highly recommend trying Green Tea, a local restaurant on the mall’s third floor, for delicious food at reasonable prices.
Overall, we had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We would definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Shaoxing.

Tre ragioni per cui bisogna lodare cinque stelle:

Una volta che entrato il condizionamento della porta, il aria condizionata può essere come installare l'aria fredda delle Alpi (molto dolce) per mantenere secca come la tecnologia nera in estate di Yunnan. Benvenuto a bere e bere frutta è solo un salvataggio del aria - Una pistola.
2️⃣ Il servizio della signorina Xiao Tin vale la pena premiare separatamente il ”problema a sinistra” a mezzanotte a una velocità molto rapida. Questo servizio di guardia online 24 ore deve davvero aggiungere le gambe di pollo!
3️⃣ Letti buoni, il modello della stanza buono, il grado di intelligenza del pannello di letto aperto in 18 anni e il marchio internazionale di nuova apertura dopo l'epidemia sono un po'di peggio.

Waking up and drawing the curtains felt like stepping into a Jiangnan watertown straight out of a Chinese textbook. Stone bridges arched over crystal-clear canals, while black-canopied boats drifted lazily past my window. The boatman even waved and greeted me with a grin!
After a night of growling hunger, I rushed downstairs for a bowl of *Ciwu hand-pulled noodles*. Oh. My. Goodness. The chewy noodles had this perfect springy texture, and the broth was so rich it felt like my taste buds were doing backflips! I slurped up every last drop, instantly revived. No wonder—the owner said the noodles are hand-slapped by master artisans!
But the real MVP was the innkeeper—a walking Shaoxing travel encyclopedia! Over afternoon tea in the lobby, he’d mark up maps like a strategist: *”This pavilion in Shen Garden is where Lu You mourned Tang Wan—perfect for photos!”* *”The stinky tofu stall near Eight Characters Bridge? Third alley, blue awning.”* *”Bring a jacket for evening boat rides—canals get chilly.”* He even shared where to find the cheapest *huangjiu* (yellow wine) ice cream bars! It felt like staying with your most thoughtful relative—the kind of hospitality that deserves all the stars. This place redefined what I call ”those little moments of joy that make traveling so special.” Five stars? More like a whole constellation!
