Best homestay in Shangri La! Location only 100m from North Gate. Li, the homestay keeper is very helpful & kind!

The location of this hotel is near to the ancient gate. There are a couple of Muslim restaurants nearby. The hotel is quite unique with old local ethnic design. It is an uphill walk from the ancient city gate. No lift so choose your room wisely. Wifi maybe for local numbers. The staffs are friendly. Be prepared to use wechat if you are an international traveller. The staffs are very helpful even willing to search for my "lost" wife only to find out that she was doing a lot of windows shopping.

Had a pleasant stay at this hotel. For the rate that we paid which included the railway pick up and breakfast, we have no complaint at all. On top of that, as we arrived earlier than the usual check in time, the hotel was gracious enough to allow us for early check in. It was a short drive from the railway station to the hotel. The communications were done via wechat and it was all smooth as we can communicate using the wechat translator. Our room were located on the third floor. It was steep stairs but we managed. The room was spacious enough for both of us. It has all the basic necessities and clean. There was also heated bed which was good as it was cold in Shangrila. The hotel also have luggage storage after check out which was good as we could continue exploring the city until it was time to take our train in the late afternoon. As for the breakfast, it was served at a diner across the street. There were mutliple set breakfast choices. Simple breakfast but technically it was enough for us as we dont have much option anyway as a muslim with specific food requirement. Croissant, eggs and fruits were good enough with tea and coffee. The location of the hotel is really near to the Dukezong Ancient Town. Less than 5 minutes walk. It was rather convenient as we went back to the ancient town at the night time and has no trouble to find our way back to the hotel by foot. Also it is easy to get public transport at the area. The hotel really looks photogenic ni the pictures especially at night time when all the lights were on.

The hotel is near the Shangrila Own Town. It’s quite old but clean. It provides electric heated pad. So warm.
